I have a waterproof bonnet for my camera when I take her out and wear her on my camera vest. In between every shot I put that bonnet back on to protect my cam from the elements especially when it is raining or snowing.
Well, I was always just so focused on getting THE shot. Without taking my eyes from off the scene before me I took that bonnet off and stuffed it into the space between my camera vest and snow jacket. I figured it would be safe there. Intent on getting set up for the shot, I was solely intent on what I was doing with my camera, walking hither and yon. Oblivious to naught but what I was seeing, I moved as if in a dream. Ahhhhh …. this is the place I wish to be all the time.
When finished with each shot I carefully attached my camera back on the vest and went to retrieve the bonnet. I cannot tell you how many times that day I stood there stunned, a curse (oops) slipping through my lips once perhaps twice, as I came up empty handed. That darn bonnet had somehow fallen into the snow as I was in dreamworld with my camera. Retracing my steps I had to now go find said bonnet. Good thing it is black and easily seen. There were times I had to go a long distance to find that darn thing, not even realizing how far I had walked in my dream.
You’d think that the second, perhaps third time I lost that bonnet I would figure out another place to put it rather then between my vest and jacket. But oh no, in my haste and excitement to get THE shot I kept on repeating the same mistake. Only when I got home I thought huh, I could have put that darn thing in the pouch I took it out of. Now tell me, is that being distracted or what? Now you know why hubby accuses me of having my head up in the clouds.
And oh, this shot was taken on one of those retrieval trips. It paid off this time because I missed this shot first time around. So, in the end, not only did I figure out where to put that bonnet when off my camera (I already have things in both jacket pockets with side zippers so no I could not use those pockets to put that bonnet), but I ended up with a bonus shot. Can’t beat that, now can you? LOL
