In order to live freely
as we are destined to live
we must completely
let go the past
that hovers like a
and only then we are free
in ways we never

Living where I live in WNY means that many a day is overcast. That means, in turn, a perfect day for a photographer to shoot. In order for me to obtain the effect I have come to prefer in my photography, I need cloud cover.
Can you imagine what it has been like for me this year, that nary a day has seen cloud cover with day after day of bright sunny skies? I’ve actually found myself groaning out loud some mornings when I opened my drapes and saw another sunny day. The day I shot this, the skies were filled with patchy clouds which made my excitement soar. Grabbing my camera when I could, I headed for the park.
The downside to cloudy days is the chance of rain. And this day being no exception, I did happen upon a spotty rain shower. In fact, if my memory serves me right, this image was taken while it was raining. I ran out from where I was standing under a big tree, and with eyes right where I wanted to shoot, I focused in, captured the image, and ran back under that tree.
I sure hope, now that I really have the “bug” for landscape photography, that next year will bring more cloudy days here to WNY. Between the heat index, the humidity index, and the amount of sunshine this year, we have beaten just about every record. You tell me if that sits well with a photographer just biting at the bit to gallop out with her new camera to do what she Loves most to do … use her camera!!! LOL
In closing, please pray or send me luck or whatever you do best, that this Autumn I will see plenty of cloudy days. I do not like to say this, but, due to the extreme heat and lack of rain here, I think that the change of the leaves will be very fast. I really require Lady Luck to be riding shotgun with me so that I can bring to you blazing, beautiful Autumn colors!
Having freed myself in so many ways of a past that only had one thing in mind, to destroy, the Joy I now know in doing what I Love to do knows no bounds. Thank you for sharing with me my triumph over darkness!
