The Wiper Blade (3 IMAGES)

  1. What? That is a splendid example of technical drawing. The detail of the attachment mechanism is particularly indicative of someone well-versed in the fine art of wiper replacement… perfectly depicting the difficulties to be expected when performing the task with frost-bitten fingers and fogged-up glasses. I would not be a bit surprised this fellow even topped-off the washer fluid tank while he was at it.
    (Happy New Year!)

    1. I read your comment with humor. Wiper blades are not easy to put on and take off as I saw in the first glance I had at the arm mechanism. As for a frostbite and fogged glasses that is exactly correct because it is just freezing here. As I have told others when the temperatures get warmer I will have hubby show me exactly how to put these blades on and off so if ever again one of them falls off I do know what to do. Happy New Year to you too! 😊🎉😊

    1. Happy New Year, Donna! These things tend to happen to me I think just to get my hubby shaken up a bit to make him realize he is not perfect. It’s not an easy fix because what I did see it looked extremely complicated. So when the weather breaks, as in the temperatures getting warmer, I will have hubby show me how to change wiper blades. I refuse to be a helpless woman! LOL 💕🥂💕

  2. Happy New Year Amy and thanks for the laugh. Lucky for you, the wiper blade could be fixed back. Mine fell off and could not be fixed back. It cost me $265 to change the pair at the car workshop😣. As for your hubby’s instructional drawing, it looks alien to me..🤔looking like Leonardo da Vinci’s drafts haha!🤣

    1. $265 just to change wiper blades??? (falling off chair!) You have GOT to be kidding! Talk about highway robbery! And thank you for the support regarding hubby’s drawing. When it warms up I want him to show me on the wiper blade how to put on and take off. I’m glad though you got a good laugh on me! YES! And Happy New Year to you, Garfield!!! 🎉🎉🎉

      1. Yes…believe it or not, my car servicing costs $1,485 every 8 months. Our cars here costs a few hundred thousand dollars. For eg a Honda easily costs $130,000. E200 Mercedes costs $288,000 *1USD = SGD1.30!! Plus for each car on the road we have to buy a birth cert of sorts called COE or Certificate of Entitlement which lasts 10 years then it is to be scrapped. Prevailing COE is about $50,000. It is floating rate.

      2. Yup my lil red dot jacks up car prices as our lil red dot is tiny and our roads must not get congested like Thailand Bangkok where traffic is gridlocked. Friends tell me cars are much cheaper in USA. I guess I can afford a Ferrari in USA ha ha but not here…close to $800,000!

      3. Yes cars are far far cheaper here in the United States. I had not realized how fortunate we are because I did not realize how expensive cars are in other parts of the world. My goodness!

    1. From what I did see it was not easy to figure out. That is why I am going to have hubby show me how to put these wiper blades on and off just in case this happens again. It’s too cold to be standing around outside so when the temperatures warm up that exactly what I will do. I refuse to be a helpless woman! How he loves doing for me yet in the process I could become one of those women who don’t know how to do anything. Not me! 😉

    1. Happy New Year, Lorrie!! Your brain is very evidently wired differently then mine. 😉 I am the on-hands type of person … I have to SEE it to understand it. I’ll make sure I tell hubby you understand his drawing. He knows I didn’t. LOL And being warm … Oh yes, it is nasty here! COLD!! My poor camera has been collecting dust waiting for these temperatures to get up into the 20’s. ☺️

    1. The moment this frigid air breaks I am out like a wild horse through my door heading for a forest with my camera in hand! You must be freezing if you are only in the 20’s. I am staying as warm as I know how to. Happy New Year! 💕🎉💕

  3. Happy New Year Amy! With all of that snow out there I would have to do some kind of exercise in my home… I’m allergic to snow and cold. 😉

    1. LOL@Ocean!! I would be in huge trouble if I was allergic to snow and cold. No I must get out of my house regardless of the weather so that I do not climb the walls. And the type of person I am, I need to go hiking and walking in the woods and I have not been able to do so in about at least 1 week on account the frigid frigid frigid air that is my reality. Grrrrrrr…… Happy New Year’s to you too! May this New Year bring to all of us much happiness and much Love! 💋🎉💋

    1. Oh you can count on me for a story believe you me! The darndest things really do happen to me! And as far as the drawing goes someone actually said that she understood it. Unfortunately not me. I am the Hands-On type of person who learns actually viewing what I am learning about. I am so glad you did get a laugh and you enjoyed my story for the day. Much Love to you! 💕😉💕

  4. I just love, that you refuse to be a helpless woman, dear Amy 😀
This could also happen for you in other places than your home and then it would be practical to be able to take care of it by yourself.

The drawing looks for me more like it was the wiper, that you needed to change, but I’m not a man and draw different.

You looked very concentrated at your gym, great photo.

Wish you were here and could enjoy the coffee at the terrace in the midday. We have nice temperatures at the moment, which is different from usual colder weather.

    Much love to you ❤

    1. If hubby had his way, Irene, I would be a helpless woman. Every time when I’m trying to do something he says here, let me do that! I have to turn around and look at him and say… No I can do this very well all by myself. What made his drawing so complicated is the way he was trying to describe to me how to go about putting this thing on. He tends to make things more complicated than they really are. Do you know any people like that? And as for me being on your Terrace sharing a cup of coffee with you I would love love love that. These frigid temperatures are driving me bonkers! Off to the gym I go today again just to get out of this house. Boy do I miss my hikes and my walks in the forest! Much Love to you, dear friend today. 💕😙💕

      1. Hubby is just an old-timer idea man, where he wish to do the practical with cars, buildings, repairs etc. The rest is up to you.
Yes, I do know this kind of men and I refuse too, Amy ❤

      1. I found out a way to get a man more interested in cleaning. It demands a new machine, where you absolutely need his help to get it to work well 😀
It could be for vacuum, windows etc.

  5. Hi Amy 🙂 Good for you out there building up those muscles! 🙂 ❤ I have full confidence in your ability to understand how to put the wiper blades on your husband's truck or your car. 🙂 One nice thing about You Tube is all of the how-to instruction videos. I haven't looked, but I am sure there is one for each kind of windshield wiper blade out there. Sometimes we decide that something is out of our capacity for understanding and then interestingly so it becomes. 🙂 I have noticed that couples often seem to have energy patterns where one kind of understanding belongs to one of them and a different to the other and they keep playing this game consciously or unconsciously. 🙂 If it is a fun game and you enjoy it, then by all means. 🙂 On the other hand, if a part of you wishes to know how to put a wiper blade on your car or his truck, then I am Sure you can understand and complete the task with full success! I am on my own so either I figure things out or I have to pay someone to complete the task for me. I don't remember changing the wiper blades on this car, but I did for my old car several times. I hope you are staying warm and safe in all of the winter weather! Love and blessings to you. ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Exactly what do I enjoy, Sarah? I don’t understand. Hubby’s mind works differently then mine .. he’s an engineer and I’m not. I have every intention of learning how to put these blades on once the temperatures warm up. I will have hubby instruct me with hands on for me. I learn best with hands on learning. We are in the middle of a raging blizzard right now so my plans on going to the gym again have been canceled. I am staying warm, thank you. Much Love and blessings to you. ☺️💝

  6. Thank you AR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From my first glance of the photo at the top of the page I burst out laughing and am still laughing just thinking about what you wrote. Damn I needed that laugh. It’s been buried for far too long. But you made it explode 🙂 As for the diagram, I’m lost…..VK >3

    1. I’m wiping my eyes I’m laughing so hard, VK, after reading your comment! Oh yeah, laughter IS the best medicine! I feel like a million bucks right now knowing I got that laugh of yours to come bursting free!! YAY!! Oh for the relief! Yes? That diagram … someone actually said she understood it. *wipes eyes* Oh …. How I’ve laughed today!!! 😂😂😂

  7. I once had a wiper blade come off in the middle of a rainstorm. Since I was nowhere near home, the best I could do is pull into the nearest auto service store and ask them to put a blade on for me. Fortunately, they didn’t overcharge, and thank heavens I made it there without hitting anyone! (PS – I don’t understand that diagram, either.)

    1. Are you in a blizzard over your way, CM? Here I can barely see across the street! I WAS going to the gym again. *darn it* And thank goodness you found an honest business and you didn’t end up hitting anyone! You are in good company not understanding that diagram. LOL 😂

  9. Now Amy, it is perfectly simple…some people are mechanically minded, and some are technically minded, and some just never mind at all 😀
But the one’s with the most brains just ask of something when they don’t know 😀
As for the map, it’s one of those ‘you had to be there’ things I think, and because I’m electrically minded, it looks like the electrical and mechanical functioning of the wiper system.
But I could be wrong, hubby could be prophetic and maybe its directions to your heart, there’s a lot of sharp turns in there, as well as dizzying circles 😀 ❤

    1. LOL@Mark!! I have laughed so much today! When a humorous slant is put on things, what transpires in my life is hysterical (at times). I must be one of those who has the most brains because I ask a lot. Hehehehehe …. especially when it comes to cars. Your last sentence cracked me up and had me laughing so hard again! Hubby is just too much. He gets so excited when he attempts to get me to understand things from how he thinks and I’m standing there cross-eyed. Did you notice where the pen tip was imprinted on the paper when hubby was getting impatient with me? Even though I didn’t say I didn’t understand he saw the bafflement on my face. I mean, really, it’s a simple drawing that anyone could understand. Right? LOL 😂😂😂

      1. An atom is a very simple thing…but oh the magic they create Amy 😀 ❤
If we were all meant to be atomic scientists, the world would be a very boring place 😀
And your genius is in your heart, even though it only seems to go 'boomp! boomp!'. It can feel the sadness in a child from a thousand yards, the laughter in a brook just by looking at it, and most certainly sing where many others can only listen and dream of those notes…all because it goes 'boomp! boomp!' ❤ 😀
Enjoy its brilliance Amy, there is much more magic to come. As for the car, it allows 'others' to share their hearts too. If your like me, I just drive it, the mechanics can have their magic as well 😀 ❤

      2. I would rather be in my Heart then in my mind. How did I get so fortunate to have the Heart I do? I prefer to be “out of my mind” to just BE, thereby by default Being in my Heart. Now that doesn’t mean I don’t use my intelligence because I most certainly do. Taking care of special cats and figuring out what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and what Homeopathy remedies to give takes a lot of brain power. I also have to know when to use allopathic medicines when the time calls for it. Going to college for nursing took a LOT of brain power. Teaching myself photography takes a lot of brain power. Anything I put my “mind” to I excel at. Yet I still prefer being out of my mind and in my Heart. This state I obtain through multiple means with Nature as #1. And as for my car, I’m spoiled. Hubby takes care of it, mechanics do what he doesn’t, and I drive it. Win-win. I also agree that this world would be a very boring place if we all were the same. *shudder* 😘

  10. Pretty funny! Glad it happened at home. Although, there is usually someone around to help with these things, I find. Things with cars used to be so simple (ages ago, when we were young 😉 ), I used to do many things on my own. Now, not so much!

    1. Cars really did used to be simple, Eliza, and I really did use to take care of my own car. Now? No way! Even hubby admits he has trouble putting wiper blades on. The instructions alone make my eyes cross. LOL Yes it seems with age I just don’t have the gumption I used to have to do everything myself. I must admit it is nice to have a man do for me. (smile) 😉

  11. Great story, Amy. I like the diagram! The steering wheel helps put it in context and the ‘hook’ is the essential element in the wiper connecting process. My wife would have to see the real thing but I would try the diagram.

    1. LOL@Dan! I just haven’t stopped laughing today. Oh yes that hook. That’s the defining stroke on that paper. I honestly did look at where this hook goes and it looked so complicated with 3 different possibilities and so I chose dial HOME. LOL Yep I am with your wife. I’m a hands on learner. ☺️

  12. I am curious how the blade came off to begin with? I do not think it can be accidentally come out so easy. I think this might be a very unique incident. I am glad you managed to get it back on the arm.. That is a very good thing.

  13. 😱We should seriously start a suppirt group. Does he aldo give you precise driving directions, including direction, ie N ,S,E,W, along with which routes NOT to take. I can stop him and tell him that eill only confuse me but he insists on finishing the entire instruction. It’s like a tick or something. i once told him I felt really sorry for him with all tha stuff banging around in his head with nowhere to go but out of his mouth. 🙊🙉🙈
