I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. While at the gym, a young man asked me if I was using the shoulder shrug free-weight machine that I was standing near. He was not joking. I pointed at this machine which had 140 pounds [63.5 kg] of weight on it and asked, “You really think I can lift that much weight?” He responded in kind, “Absolutely!” Doubled over in laughter now, I sputtered, “In my dreams I can!” Between the look on my face, and my laughter, he too began to laugh when he realized he made an oopsie. I must look a heck of a lot stronger then I am! LOL
In a hurry as usual, Hubby grabbed the 5 pound bag of pumpkin seeds from out of the refrigerator and seeds went flying every which way. I wasn’t home at the time but I can well image what went flying from out of his mouth as he meticulously looked for every single seed. And I can well imagine how long it took Hubby to find all those seeds. Those seeds are tiny! When I did get home, still furious, Hubby told me how irresponsible I was for not closing that bag correctly. I in turn asked him how was I to know the resealable bag didn’t seal when I did my darnedest to reseal it? You really think I would set you up like that, I asked him? He didn’t properly talk to me for two days. [Aw, come on!]
While speaking with a nurse from my GP’s office regarding the results of my thyroid ultrasound, I shared with her in an attempt to help my thyroid values get back into normal, I am incorporating kelp into my diet. The next thing I know my GP sent me an email that stated, “I do not recommend kelp because “The American Diet” has enough iodine in it.” Upset, as well you can imagine, I wrote my GP back stating that I am eating the furthest thing from the American Diet, which in all honesty was such a broad generalization in of itself that it left me confused as to what she was referring to.
Due to my very restricted diet I am on that I formed [not she] out of absolute necessity to decrease my food allergic reactions, there is a possibility my thyroid levels are not within normal values from inadequate iodine intake. I sent her documentation to back up what I stated and again a list of the foods I do not eat. In the final correspondence with her she backpedaled by saying, “I had “The American Diet” in quotation marks because of your diet. [Really?] Go ahead and try the kelp then.” That is not her call to make. It is mine and solely mine. I will not have my power regarding my body stripped from me!
If you follow blindly you have a very good chance of getting hurt. Do your own research and educate yourself. GP’s are not licensed nutritionists!
