Treasure Hunt

    1. Handsome indeed and so very exciting to capture, Dan! I had many more frames of this guy, some showing the red feathers on his head but not as well as the picture I showed. This bird is not easy to capture for he does not stay still much at all. You gotta be fast. Have a great day and a better weekend! Sun here today so out I go to continue in my gardens. I have one garden left in all my front ones to do, not counting having to turn around to snip back the bulbs that are done. Big job any way you look at it. SMILE!! xo

    1. Yes he is well worth the hunt, Holly. OH for the thrill of the hunt! Just having so much fun! I am out in my gardens today trying (!) to get a plant out that has aggressively taken over getting into everything. *sigh* I had to come in to eat as I realize I won’t be getting rid of this plant but that it will only keep growing back. For the joys of gardening! LOL Sending love to you! xo

      1. I was aghast to the extent of the root system of this ONE plant. I don’t think I will ever quite get all of this plant tamed back. It will be a constant check to keep pulling out and trimming back. If I had to do it over again, I would not have planted this plant. You stay safe too, Holly! I am strong and healthy! Bless you!! xo

    1. Aw, thank you, Kamal! I really wanted to show some of what a photographer at times goes through trying to get THE picture of a sought after bird. I am thrilled you stopped by to see what happened between me and this Ruby-crowned Kinglet. May your weekend be blessed and today exceptionally happy!! Much love to you! xo

  1. And what a crown that red spot is Amy, you have achieved a great shot. And I also note that you were being checked out as you were being ‘allowed’ to capture that crown. Well done dear lady 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

    1. Well thank you, Mark! A-ha! You did notice the eye contact. An amazing phenomena is happening in which birds are actually looking directly at me. Yesterday while at the park a Chickadee flew right to me and almost landed on my left arm while I was WALKING! I gawked in awe! What is happening? I’m truly living and walking in paradise! Much love to you! xo

How exciting this is for me, knowing I am showing them birds that do exist! Mother Nature never ever ceases to amaze me, awe me, humble me, excite me, as She always gives so much to me in ways that boggle my mind! How incredible that you are discovering new along with me through my posts. What joy it is to share! Much love to you, dear friend!! xo

      2. I’ll tell you parts of my life I don’t talk about much. My determination to do what I set out to do was formed first in 1983 when I had a NDE. I came back forever changed. Then in 1993 I had a severe back injury which led to a whole chain of events that in looking back, I don’t know how I am alive today. I wasn’t walking for almost 2 years after two back surgeries and due to the huge amount of meds a doctor gave me, I was an addict. From out of that mess I cleaned my act up, taught myself how to walk, and from that directly I promised myself I would not ever fall to weakness again. Life is so short and it is so precious. So I cram as much as I can into it.
May I inspire you to follow your every dream and to not ever give up. There are many other stories that contribute to who I am today, but the two I told you today are enough. From out of severe hardships strength arose that to this day gives me the ability to climb mountains. (smile) xo

Your strength is really admirable!!! It takes a lot to do what all you did to counter your difficulties. You’ll always have a big chunk of my respect for that. I’ll always look up to you.

God bless you , dear friend.

        Hugs and kisses 💙

    1. Tears in my eyes. Thank you SO much, Gabriela! I so do love what I do and the birds of late are allowing me photographs of them in a way I’ve never seen before. Most if not all are giving me direct eye contact! I am so honored and humbled by your comment. SO thrilled you stopped by to witness what is happening in my world. Much love to you this day!! xo

      2. PS. Cuz you “get it”, yesterday while out and about in a forest, a Chickadee just about landed on my arm as I was walking. I stood there gawking in awe. NEVER has this happened. And then that Chickadee led me to 2 Red-bellied Woodpeckers. I honestly am saying “pinch me”!!
        Have a great day!! oxoxoxoxo

  5. Your photos of that bird are beyond amazing. For sure, I can only imagine, how much patience and calm it needs to get such photos… but it also needs the eye of the passionate artist. Fantastic, Amy. And the quote is wonderful too!

    1. Erika, my husband said words yesterday about my photography after he saw this post that put tears in my eyes. He is really understanding how much my photography means to me, how good I am, and what I am paying as in my “family sacrifices” that leave me unable to “run” with my Gift. That too will work itself out. But to have my husband “get” what I “could” do with my talent, gives me such a huge feeling in my heart hard to describe. I am passionate about my cameras and have practiced and learned many years. I am SO thrilled you enjoyed this post. And yes for the quote …. thank you! Life IS precious!! Much love to you! xo

      1. I understand what you mean, Amy. Putting our passion into the things we so love to do is one thing but becoming recognized for it, makes it even more beautiful. Yes, life is so precious. Huge hugs, Amy 💖

  6. Congrats, Amy, on capturing these images. I most certainly know how tough it is to photograph even the usual birds. I keep on trying… Enjoy your weekend, dear one.💕

    1. Thank you, Julie! YOU keep trying. A few tips. Do you have tracking on your camera? Set that up for ONLY the center AF point. I have my AF tracking on for objects that accelerate or decelerate quickly. Be aware of your breath. Easy. Slow and easy. And when you are about to shoot stop the breath and relax. Sounds impossible? It’s not cuz I do it. Now it just comes naturally. The birds also sense your frame of mind so if you are nervous or upset they will pick up on that. Walk with confidence and calm. And practice. (smile) Much love sent your way!! xo

  7. I say “Wow!” Such a thrill for you to capture these magnificent and stunning images. Your comments about the birds making eye contact: You are connecting your spirit to their spirits. You have a special touch, truly at one with Earth and her children.

    1. Your words made me go very very quiet, just like I do when I am in the forest. I do feel one with Mother and with all Her Children. It’s taken me years of showing respect and love towards all things Nature for trust to develop, yet due to the special times we are living in right now, I believe something extraordinary is happening between myself and who I am photographing. On two separate occasions, a Chickadee almost landed on me, and at the last minute changed its mind. Both times I was stunned. My reaction? Pinch me! I truly am walking paradise upon this earth. And in so doing, I am deeply humbled and so so grateful.
I also thank you for the “wow”! Every time I get a wow I glow. Bless you! I’m thrilled you stopped by to get the chance to actually see what I am. Have a great day today! xo

      1. Gray days are tough, I know. Although, with all the garden work I’m doing, I really like having a day off. 😉 The plants do like the rain, better than the alternative, right?

      2. I enjoy the days off too, Eliza. Gardening is very hard work as you well know! We had record snow in April here that believe it or not, killed back my Bleeding Heart. Thank goodness I am seeing new shoots coming up. I’ve never see a hardy Early Spring plant die back. I just about cried!

    1. I know, Donna! Right? Oh did I ever have an adventure that day! So cool about the bullfinch and goldfinch. If you want my camera, what is stopping you? All kidding aside, it’s a big investment, but if you love photography as much as I do, it is more then worth it. I am having a great weekend. Thank you! Hope you are too!! Much love to you! xo

    1. Love that wow! Thank YOU, Miriam! I’m crossing my fingers that this wet cool weather stops so that I can consistently enjoy the outdoors. Every time the sun shines I practically run with my cameras to my fav place. I am rewarded each and every time as Mother shows me Her delights that I show you. I have so many others many of which sadly to say, probably won’t be seen here due to limited time. You keep enjoying life for it truly is precious!! Much love to you! xo

    1. Sandra, I love seeing birds I’ve never seen before too. I also enjoy learning about them and that is the reason many times I include links for anyone who would like to know more about the birds I am showing. You are right about there being so many species! Just in the Warbler family alone there are SO many types of Warblers. It’s mind boggling!! You have a wonderful week too!! Much love your way! xo

    1. Rob, I have a very long and very powerful lens that allows me to see these birds close up. And then because I have such a powerful camera, I have the ability to crop close in order to bring the bird in even closer. I should post what one of my pictures look like before I crop in close. You just gave me the idea! Thank you!! I’m thrilled you came by to witness another “feather in my cap!” success. LOL Much love your way! xo

  11. The Ruby Crowned Kinglet is just gorgeous, Amy! Your photos of all the gorgeous birds I saw here today are fantastic. The hyacinths are so beautiful that I could smell them.
Of course I was very proud to see a Canada Goose! YAY!
I hope you get this comment, as I did read you post prior to this. Hopefully WP has cleared up the problem.
I hate the reader! I rarely use it, and then it’s just for a reminder of who I haven’t visited lately. I enjoy your work, and I like seeing how it is presented in the theme you are using.
You are so lucky to live near few people and have lots of air.
As you know, where I live, there are too, many people, lots of rules and not enough space.
That’s life in the big city. Still, in better times, I do love it here!
Keep up all you beautiful work.
My new Art Gown is finally gaining some speed, and as you know, the one that will be dedicated to you is on deck!

    1. Yes, Resa, this comment did go through and I thank you for reminding me of the post I had up. I took it down. My notifications are working properly now.
I too don’t like the reader. I go directly to each blog knowing that is where I get the “full effect”. I deliberately chose a theme to allow full screen viewing of each of my images which you do not get in the reader.
SO glad you enjoyed the posts you viewed. I’ve been so so busy with my cameras and as of this writing so far behind in both the editing and in the showing of what I have captured. My gardens have been keeping me busy as well for this is the time I open them which entail a lot of work!
I’m happy for you that your sewing is gaining speed. It is such a shock what with all that is unfolding in the world yet we have to teach ourselves to go on with living as best we can in order to maintain our equilibrium.
When you can, notice how clean the air has become and how blue our skies too. The other evening I stood entranced in my backyard as I stared in awe at the moon and North Star. Never have I seen the colors in the sky and never have I seen the moon so crystal clear. Perhaps back when I took those things for granted, seeing the moon clearly and having clean skies, but no more. I pray OH how I pray our clean air stays and those who can change things for the better do!!
Sending much love our way!! Big (((HUGS)))!! xo

    1. Love that wow, Sue!! This is the proof that Mother always rewards me for my respect and love towards Her. Without that negative presence of the woman days earlier, this Kinglet, a Ruby-crowned at that, allowed me to capture him again and again. I have many other frames that show the red on his head but I had to build up the suspense so only showed my very best shot with the red showing. Many people never see this tiny bird. They are fast and so tiny that IF you are not aware of their presence, or IF you don’t recognize their song, you won’t see them. I consider you as a true friend as well. Like spirits and all that. Sending you so much love and respect over the waters. BIG (((HUGS)))!! xo
