~~~~~
My story for the day: Yesterday while at our Vet’s office, Hubby pulled out of the thin blue air something that had my head swiveling from him to our Vet. As she was taking acupuncture needles out of her case for Doodles’ acupuncture treatment, Hubby asked, “Dr. is the diameter of that needle about .1 of a millimeter?” Both our Vet and I stood there stunned as she had to look at the label in order to answer his question and when she did she said, “It is .16 of a millimeter.”
Seriously?
In the meantime, I am in between the two of them, my eyes as I can well imagine big as saucers. I’m thinking, “No way, he did not just pull that out of his head.” Of course, our Vet had to look at the label. She had no idea the size of the needle. There he is, my math genius husband showing us how easy math is who doesn’t even think estimating the size of a tiny needle is something that all of us can do. No biggie, he claims.
Aw, come on!
And in the gallery below all 8 of our special kids will be seen. Click on first image to enter gallery to read a little about each fur-kid. All pictures except for our three cats looking out the door and the header picture were taken with my Samsung camera. The quality is not my Canon’s but …. I took these to show our Vet yesterday. It was the quick way of taking their pictures. Speaking of, most of these guys do not like their picture taken so hence, the pinched faces and whitish noses.
Now you’ve seen our babies. Enjoy your Sunday!!
Most of our cats come from either a wild or feral beginning and the instinct to be afraid of certain things, remains till this day. I like using my long lens … that way I don’t have to be close to them and they don’t feel afraid. Cats are NOT easy to photograph. They move fast!
Jersey looks almost identical to a friends cat I know Amy. And a character and a half, you could only play as long as he wanted to, then a quick scratch to say ‘enough’ and off he would go. His name was ‘Smudge’ from the black patches on a lovely white body…hence the ‘smudge’.
Thank you for sharing your lovely family, even the other one not in the picture (hubby), with the quick measuring mind that has his place too ❤️
P.S. He doesn’t scratch you does he? lol 😂
LikeLiked by 3 people
None here scratch, not unless I forget to keep up with their nail clipping and in their excitement they forget to sheath their nails when playing, or if perchance Mom isn’t up as per usual and in the impatience of letting Mom sleep in, Whispers (especially) goes to remind Mom what time it is by gently slapping her in the face and oops, there are those nails. Ouch! Hubby knows enough not to scratch me. LOL
Oh, Sonia, when I read your comment I laughed out loud. You GET IT! The amazement never ends, does it? I mean how does a brain just arbitrarily pull out of the thin blue air a number that is so close to being right, that to me is near impossible to do? Math. Yup, Hubby loves it. He was told in college he should change his major to that of Math in order to teach Math. I don’t think that would have worked out very well because he gets it and “expects” others to get it too. It’s easy to him. And then when he explains things he takes the slow boat to China and back again. By that time, the one who is being “taught” has “her” eyes crossed. Laughing out loud here!!! And I used to be good in Math, so my brain is wired for Math, just not as complicated as Hubby’s is. As for our kids’ names, they actually “told” me. Honest. The names came to me when I “asked” each of these cats as kittens what their names were. Meaghan was very particular for instance. It wasn’t Megan. Nope. It was Meaghan. I didn’t even know there was an actual spelling of Megan like that and yup, sure enough there was. It’s Irish. LOL Have a great Sunday!! I really enjoyed your comment! Thank you! xo
Most mathematical person likes your husband has very good sense of space thus gauging sizes is one of the characteristic that comes along with that sense. I am quiet sure the is also good at feeling how things weight too.
Your babies are so adorable.
Yes, YC, he is an extremely good estimator with size and with weight. He honestly doesn’t understand that not all people can do this. As for our babies, I’m prejudiced of course, but I happen to agree with you. xo
What a lovely group of kitties. Your’s are all over 10. We lost our last Y2K kitty last year. So now all our kitties are 5 or younger, except Lola who is 9 years old. I’ve never had acupuncture on a kitty, but I’ve had to do lots of sub-cutaneous fluids on some of cats that had kidney issues.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Thank you, Timothy! I do sub-cutaneous fluids as well with some of our cats. In fact, I just bought another case of LR to the tune of $145. Like wow! Acupuncture really works! Having a houseful of cats is a lot of work. You relate cuz you know. Best of luck with the rest of your fur family!! xo
Lola had to have some dental work a few weeks ago. That was costly. All the comfort and joy we get from kitties is worth every penny we spend on them.
Now you see how my hard work has paid off, VK, even those who are not feeling all that great look good. Yes acupuncture did help Doodles! He is breathing great today! I’m still keeping up with his regimen (of course) and Hubby is doing spinal adjustments every day getting his disks that are slipping out back in place (source of why his nose is congested.) I’m going for a bike ride today …. a long one. I heard really bad news 3 days ago. The boarding horse ranch where I used to get my manure from, burned to the ground (suspicious fire!) with 12 horses and 2 dogs inside. All were lost. Last I heard the owner was contacting the owners of the horses. Hence, LONG bike ride today. This hit me hard. Warm here too. I’m taking full advantage of it. Much Love to you! xo
Erika, none of our babies look “old”. Seeing is believing. I put their ages on this post deliberately. They are fed raw food, drink the best water, and they do get alternative means to stay healthy …. acupressure, acupuncture (most recent addition), herbal combinations, flower essence solutions, homeopathy, chiropractic adjustments, IV hydration, and more. All are done by Hubby and me with one exception …. acupuncture. You don’t know how much I wish I could learn how to do this. Between what my life is now, and my um age (the brain aint what it used to be), this is out of the question. I know I would excel at it though. And yeah, my husband and his math …. he amazes me. He takes it for granted that he thinks like he does. I am trying to impress him with the fact that not all of us can do what he does. Yes this IS my family!!! Much Love to you!! xo
It is great that you are doing most of the treatment by yourself. That way you know exactly what happens to and for the cats… and of course, you learn a lot too. Still Mother Nature is the best pharmacy. I believe this more than ever. I just scheduled another post about an essential oil. Also next year, I will go for another education in for becoming a herbalist (includes the complete phytotherapy).
Sorry, I disgressed here. I am just very amazed and impressed that you are doing this all by yourselves. So wonderful! I am sure that your cats know very well how blessed they are to be with you and I know you feel blessed having them with you 💖
Erika, we’ve got 20 some years of studying and learning under our belts. I too believe in the body healing when given the appropriate natural tools. I’m seeing unbelievable progress just with the spinal adjustments hubby does. My cats actually ask me to adjust their necks and back legs. I wish I knew more, and still I am looking for new and more. My latest acquirements are flower essences and yes they work! The sicker ones (Jersey, Doodles, and Jersey) require IV boluses and pain medication at times. And as for you, way to go!! Studying herbs is far from easy! There is just so much to know! I wish you all the very best! I KNOW what it takes to understand ….. and still there is more to understand. Yes I truly am blessed having these special babies in my life. A lot of work yes, and often misunderstood by many by what I’ve CHOSEN to do with my life …. yet I know this is what I am to do. And it is simple as that! xo
It is wonderful to work with nature and it makes us stand in awe time and time again, doesn’t it? As you said, the more you dig in the more you know what you don’t know. But all we learn is just awesome. Actually, I think it is really cool that your hubby joins you in the treaments. One of my friends has learned a lot of techniques in acupunture, shiatsu, and more for dogs, cats, and even horses. Her treatments even helped some dogs who were diagnosed as paralyzed to walk again. Awesome!
There is so much possible!
I think that when you point a camera at an animal or bird, they see any circular pattern on the front of the camera as the eye of a predator. Even a pet will still have that bit of wild DNA somewhere in its makeup.
It can be even worse with binoculars which have both of the predator’s eyes from the animals’ point of view. A lot of small birds will take flight as soon as you fix your binoculars on them.
For this reason, I like to use my long lens so that my cats don’t even know I’m photographing them. I have a gift with wildlife … they allow me to view them and to photograph them. Yet it is important to respect boundaries. Thank you, John, for your comment.
Dearest Holly, what a delightful comment. Our cats are really special and really loved! Right now I am on a marathon as I keep up with those who need extra care. Some days I don’t know how I will keep standing, yet I do. I haven’t been blogging due to closing up my gardens, but when I saw this comment come in, I just had to reply! (smile)
Yes acupuncture is really working for Doodles. He is the only one so far we are taking in for it. This poor fella is FIV+ and HAD a chronically congested nose for well over one year. Cats are obligate nose breathers …. they do not breathe through their mouths. Of course I am doing “other” in conjunction with acupuncture to insure that Doodles keeps breathing easily. I have a few more in mind to bring in as well. We treat our cats as “naturally” as possible.
And yeah, my husband is one of a kind. His math brain gets my eyes crossed. I too am good in math, but he, oh my goodness, a genius in comparison. Unbelievable! You described my face perfectly …. deer caught in headlights. LOL
So glad you stopped by to meet my special family, Holly. I don’t write about them often. I use my blog as a distraction from all the incredible work involved taking care of these babies and the emotional toll involved when they are not feeling well. There is also a whole lot more to “me” then my cats which is evident here at Connecting Beyond. Sending many blessings your way as well. Thank you so much for what you wrote! You made my day and made me realize how much I miss my friends here. My gardens are taking forever this year! (groan!!) Much Love!!! xo
I’ll be looking forward to it, as I thoroughly enjoy reading your words and taking in the beauty of your photography. Incredible work you do! It’s obvious how much you love it because the passion oozes from every piece of art you create. ♥
I completely understand about Doodles. We had a boy named Jinkx who was also FIV+ Bless his heart – he was a fighter. Sometimes the disease presents itself in ways that are manageable – others not so much. As you say, cats definitely need to breathe through their nose and when they can’t, it’s absolutely awful to witness. You are doing such a beautiful job with these kiddos. Well done my friend. well done!
Your gardens sound amazing. We too are big believers in growing as much as possible. Do you grow in the gardens for pure pleasure, or sell as well?
I completely understand too what you mean by there is more to you than just the cats. That’s kind of why I needed another blog besides Cat Care Solutions. I adore animals (especially cats) but there is also the deeper side that yearns to be expressed. You can relate, I know! Much a kindred spirit this way.
I am grateful you share yourself with us and you are missed. But take your time, take care of you too and we will be here with open arms and hugs for your return. Be blessed, dear Amy. Lots of love to you for the encouragement you are! ♥
I walked into our living room and Hubby had news on (I don’t watch it) and there I saw a starving lion with every rib showing walking in a town in California. Why anyone is NOT helping this cat is beyond me! I was furious! And, he had this huge collar on with a tracking device on it, but no one is rescuing him, feeding him, rehabbing him, and then releasing him into the wild. What is wrong with people? Sorry. I’m still steamed up about what I saw. Now you know why I don’t watch the news.
