Smoky Mirror

    1. Oh wow, Scott, THANK YOU! I finally obtained a picture where the ISO and the SS reflect each other perfectly. In other words, it was the perfect shot. It’s all about lighting. I’ve been SO fascinated by this guy that I keep returning to photograph him. He’s been joined recently by two other Green Herons. And those leaves …. an indication of what is to come. xo

  1. Completely agree Amy. Neutrality is the best way forward – we really have no idea what someone else is dealing with, nor why they are angry/sad/upset – whatever, they are really coming from inner pains. Eye for an eye doesn’t work. Thanks for the message. The bluish-white flower stopped me in my tracks. The color is amazing – I love it. Hello Mr. Green Heron – always a pleasure to see you!! Much love, Donna

    1. That bluish white flower is the very last flower that is seen in my gardens. When I see these flowers, my heart knows (sigh) it is time to begin the closing up of my gardens for the season. She is gorgeous, isn’t She? I put a lot of thought on how to edit that picture to bring out the “Divine” in Her.
And yes, we do not know what someone is really going through, that is unless we know them or live with them. And even then, we don’t always know. But what we can do for our benefit, is to understand what the true source is of the negativity that is coming our way so we don’t become attached. As for Mr. Green Heron … he is the new LOVE of my life! I’ve taken well over 1000 pics of this guy and friends. Amazing and truly fascinating!! Much Love to you, Donna. May your day be blessed! xo

  2. Amazing photos Amy and I see your love for Mr. Green Heron 🙂
When someone try their best to us inflicted in their own challenges, we need to remember, that all this is only going on in their own head. It has nothing to do with us.
It helps me to do my best not to take anything personal, but return it to sender without receiving and just go on with my own life.
Much love and huge hugs for you, dear friend ❤

    1. SOOOO happy you drank in this beauty + wisdom here today, Irene! Oh yes, I do love that Green Heron. He absolutely fascinates me! And staying detached when someone intentionally attempts to hurt us, is not easy at times. The more we do it, however, the better we get at it. Good for you for knowing how to stay neutral! Much Love to you and BIG (((HUGS)))!!! xoxo

    1. Thank you, Melissa, SO much! Bless you for drinking in not only the beauty of Mother that I shared here today, but also the wisdom I’ve gained in my life. Yes aging is why I have that wisdom. I honestly like where I am in life. I’m learning what to do in order to stay fit and feeling sexy despite the changes my body is exhibiting. As I told someone recently, I’m not quitting any time soon! May you have a wonderful weekend!! xo

    1. Aw, thank you, VK! Patience heck yeah! But in that patience I find peace ….. and then some. Mr. Heron and friends caught a whole lot of dinners and I was there to witness it. I’m out in my gardens right now closing them down one by one. I came in to put liniment on the back and knees …. this gardening stuff is not easy!! Hope you are having a great weekend! Very windy here but sunny! I’ll take it!! Much Love and hugs …. xo

    1. Cindy, I am so touched that you left a comment. I know how busy your own blog is so for you to take the time, not only to read my post but to comment, I say thank you! There’s something about aging …. you gain wisdom. (smile) Another thank you for complimenting me on my photography. Again I am very touched! Have a great weekend! Amy xo

Your heart is opening as good as your shutter dear lady, may the light that enters always develop a beautiful heart ❤️

  5. Your photos always have such a soft dreaminess about them. Just looking at them brings some peace. As for your words…so important to realize that if someone hurts you in any way, they are hurting. But also important to realize that it’s an explanation, not an excuse. I had a big test with this recently. I passed, thankfully. Have a beautiful weekend, dear Amy.🌹❤️

    1. The peace you feel when you view my images, Julie, is the exact peace I feel when I am in my “element”. How that peace is passed on in my images, I don’t know. Fairies? Elementals? Magic? All three? Could be! So happy for you that you passed the test! And no, there is never an excuse for anyone to hurt anyone else I agree 100%. I do not enable! Sometimes, not all the time, when we do have the understanding, we can actually voice the truth about the illusion that is ready to capture us in a net of misery. Our “intuition” comes in handy in order to know if the person who is aiming to hurt your heart is ready to hear the truth or not. May you have a beautiful weekend as well, dear friend. It’s time for me to get serious about my gardens as in closing them up for the season. *sigh* Much Love to you! xo

      1. “Our “intuition” comes in handy in order to know if the person who is aiming to hurt your heart is ready to hear the truth or not. ” — this is the test. So hard to walk away, but often it’s exactly what the person needs and it’s definitely what we need. Best of luck with putting your garden to bed for the year. 🧚🏻‍♀️

      2. Whoa. When I do something like that, I am taken aback. I honestly did not know that was your test, Julie. The words however just came spitting out. I’ve come to trust what I write. Astonished! And yes, it is hard to walk way …. but what is the use of speaking to deaf ears or one who is just ready to fight? Not worth it! And as you say, sometimes the “message” is heard loud and clear when we do walk away saying nothing. Thank you about my gardens ….. I need it!! LOL

  6. This is such a reflective write-up, Amy. If we don’t practice self-care, then we won’t know what it means to love and love around us. What we want to teach others we have to teach ourselves first, and you summed this all up in your words here. You also said it in your closing words: when we are sure of yourselves, we won’t let others’ negative opinions get to us and continue doing what we want to do. Happiness is something that can be so hard to learn and it can take us years to learn what happiness means. No one has the right to take that from us, and it is our right to be happy and live life in our own lane. As usual, great photography and that last shot is ace ❤

    1. Bless you for your comment, Mabel. I don’t know about you but I’ve worked hard to attain my state of happiness. I have my means to keep it … they may not necessarily be yours. We have to learn what works for us. THANK YOU on the “ace”. I’m still walking proud as a peacock over that picture. That picture to me represents a perfect shot. Thank you for stopping by!! xo

    1. Thank you so much, YC! That bird I have fallen in love with. Hours I’ve spent just watching, capturing with my camera, and just hanging with him and friends. So happy you enjoyed this!! Have a great weekend!! xo

  7. Each image nicer than the next Amy, I have so many favourites! Very wise words too. Well aware the other party is projecting their not ok feelings but it’s challenging to rise above the hurt, when no matter what you do, it’s never good enough to please the other party or solve the issue and move on!

    1. Why thank you, Marie! I agree 100% that it is far from easy not to engage, especially with someone who knows how to push our buttons. Being aware is only the first step of a challenging journey, learning how to remain neutral. Bless you for stopping by! xo

    1. Thank you SO much, Sue. Those insights come with experience and over time as you well know. That heron picture is not even my best …. I have SO many I can choose from. I plan on backing those images up on an external hard-drive …. received a notice from Apple that I need a new battery in my laptop, which if I don’t replace may catch on fire. I’m not concerned about the laptop itself …. when I get to Apple to take care of the battery I’ll get there. But I DO care about those pictures! Much Love to you this Sunday! I’m taking it easy today! And it feels so darn good! (smile)

      1. Yes do indeed back up those images Amy, I remember when you broke your pocketnote book external harddrive, if memory serves me well, and the thousands of images you lost.. But my friend your skill has more than made up for that loss.. As I have seen how since then your photos have progressed along with your beautiful insights my friend .. So nothing is ever lost.. We can only gain…
        Much love ❤
