Recently, I obtained another pair of eyes. Hubby’s as a matter of fact. He decided to come along with me on a photo shoot. I grabbed this opportunity and ran with it.
That man really got into the spirit of things. On location, he immediately began to scout, looking all around, even pointing at gravel telling me “don’t walk there …. too much noise!” Like um, OK, I don’t know that and no, I haven’t done this a time or two. Instead of shooting my smarty pants mouth off, I kept silent. Let him enjoy this, I thought!
Suddenly he grabbed my arm in excitement pointing up. “Look” he mouthed. Sure enough he found a bird to photograph, a Wood Sparrow.
In a blink of an eye, we both became kids on a treasure hunt. Grinning at each other, the search continued. Within minutes again my arm was grabbed as he pointed. Thanks to Hubby I captured an American Yellow Finch, a bird I honestly did not see.
Moments later I spotted another Wood Sparrow.
Then, walking along reveling in the beautiful day and the Beauty all around us, I stopped in my tracks as I spotted a bird high up in a tree. Before I could shoot however, the bird flew to another tree, so I turned preparing to shoot. What I saw and captured was this Bluebird with a meal.
Then, I nailed the next shot! This very same male Bluebird flew from the tree he was perched on straight to his nest in a birdhouse. Yowza! I’m patting myself on the back for this shot!
Walking away with great respect being mindful of remaining quiet (after my Bluebird shots), bullfrogs were heard. Darn it, I wanted to get a shot of a bullfrog with his neck all blown up. Stealthily I crept up to the deserted pool they were singing in, and stood still as a statue looking looking looking. I saw ripples. There! I found a bullfrog! Now to wait until that frog expanded its neck. Carefully I extended my len’s barrel. And that is when Hubby got me.
With eyes peeled on that bullfrog my aim was to shoot. Sweat dripped down my face and back as I waited….. holding my breath …. Unfortunately for me, that bullfrog was so smart he knew I was there. He refused to show off and to expand his neck for me. Finally I shot this picture. Ya win some ya loose some. Bugs!
I turned around looking for Hubby. When found, we began to walk towards the mansion. It was there we discovered that the lamps on either side of the front door were not the original ones and were obviously disproportionate in comparison to the door and the front patio. That is when I took a picture of Hubby.
It was around the time this picture was taken we realized we had to head back to the car. Turning towards the path I spotted a bird and shot a Wren ….
…. and then to my surprise, (I was not expecting it!) it flew. I actually managed to capture this Wren in flight ….
How I excited I was! On my LCD screen the picture looked clear but when I got home and saw it in my editing room, it wasn’t. So what? I kept it and showed you anyways!
Again picking up the pace to get back to the car after my Wren shoot, I saw one last bird that drew my attention, a fledgling Starling. The colors!
I kind of sorta got ahead of myself with some of my pictures here today. I still have yet to show you part II of “My New Heaven” so the pool picture and mansion picture I will classify as trailer teases. Soon in theaters near you ….

Great shots Amy and even better, you got Hubby out there together with you 🙂
You are catching those birds so well, even with food in their beaks.

I saw how the little kid came alive in Hubby so my “mission” is to get him to come with me more often …. Bird photography is to date the most challenging aspect of photography for me thus far. So glad you stopped by, Irene. Did you notice my safari attire that I wore to keep skeeters away? I’m still concocting my new formula for my bug spray. Stay tuned for that. Much Love to you!! 🌹🌹🌹

I noticed you, but not much more, I will look again. I wish the best for you with the new bug spray. I don’t use vinegar for more than absolute necessary, it dries out my skin, so get scratches. If you need other ideas for EO’s for caring, just ask. I try to learn more that way too. I’m looking forward to your new posts ❤

VK, Hubby and I don’t have a lot of fun together due to all the “responsibilities” we share. I’m trying to teach him to stop and smell the roses (HAVE FUN!) even if there is still work to be done. Work will always be there, no matter what! I thank you about my shots … that bluebird one with the grasshopper … that bird trusted us! He could have waited until we left to go to his nest but he chose to show us his nest. That humbled me, dear friend! Patience … I’m learning that right now regarding another matter …. wait, I hear, just hold on and wait. I’m a “come on let’s do this now” sort of person. LOL SO happy you saw our adventure through this post. Much Love to you and many HUGS!! 💜💜💜

Thank you, Scott. What love birds with the cameras? Oh you mean Hubby and me? LOL I haven’t been called that in a long time! Teehee ….. It’s been a LONG time Hubby and me had fun together …. life for us is jam packed with work and responsibilities. I’m trying to teach him to have FUN even when there is work to be done. I’m gonna try to get that man out on photoshoots more often. He relaxed and had so much fun! What a JOY to see him like that! 😉

It is indeed fun to do things together. My wife’s college majors were in speech and theatre. She is a marvelous director. “Look at this lamp.” “Maybe that bridge from the other side.” After our son was grown, I gave her some photography basics, she bought a camera, and she is a very good photographer.

Loved all of them but the ones of the sparrow and the blue jay really have me excited, particularly on a day like today, and in a season such as this. The Lord took me immediately to His word, through His creation, which you captured….
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:25-26
“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! 6 “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many SPARROWS…Luke 12:4-7
GOD’S GOT THIS! No matter what your this is, trust God with it, and know it’s all taken care of!!!
Thank You Lord for Amy’s ministry through photography, and for her husband who helped with this shoot!!! Bless all their “Treasure Hunts,” in Jesus name, Amen!!!

Anthony, you amaze me with this comment. I do before I continue, have to tell you those blue birds were not blue jays …. they are Bluebirds. I’ve never seen a Bluebird before this Summer. I am very familiar with the Scripture you quoted …. and for this reason, I have faith all my needs are taken care of. And they are! I have been Blessed with a husband who provides and who works so hard to make sure his family has enough and is comfortable. I do trust and I’m confident that shows not only through my blog but my everyday life as well. Bless you for recognizing what I do here as a “ministry”. I consider myself very humbled that I am being directed to do what I do by using the talents God gave me to show others the Beauty and Truth that exist. THANK YOU for Blessing both myself and my husband! We do not have a lot of fun together on account of all the work and responsibilities we have, but I am in the process of teaching Hubby to stop to have fun no matter how much outstanding work there is. I’m gaining ground!! Your prayers are cherished!! (((HUGS)))!!! 🌟🌟🌟

And to think, I really knew that as I typed that, but I left it blue jays…Yep, this is ministry, displaying God’s creation and particularly this shot, which helps the “word become flesh.” People cannot refute this word when they see it in action. Some people will believe when they hear the word of the Lord, others will believe when they see…
“Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”…John 20:29
Blessings Amy!!
This may be an awesome beginning of sorts for you and your husband to do extended ministry together. Looks like he was really enjoying that camera. Many blessings to you Sir. Anthony here!!

I’ll just see where this goes, Anthony. Hubby is a very talented artist yet his “work ethics” block that aspect of him so many times. He’s also teaching himself guitar which takes a lot of his time. It was sheer JOY to be with him as he relaxed and truly enjoyed himself. Again, that does not happen often. He takes life so seriously. Blessings to you, Sir Anthony! (smile) XOXO
PS. I had a feeling you knew that the birds were Bluebirds. Perhaps blue jays are a “message” for me. I’ll ask. (wink)

Also, dear Amy, would really appreciate your wise and successful advice: how did you manage to convert him?! I need some tips to convince J’s to do the same with me! 😂❤️❤️

Sonia, it’s an uphill battle. Truthfully, I’d given up on asking, pleading … etc. Then, it just popped out and I asked (again) if he would like to come along with me. I almost fell over when he said yes AND that he really enjoyed himself. 99.99999% of the time I’m alone when I go out with my camera. Advice …. pray? Have faith? Talk about the wonderful things you saw and did? Not talk about anything? Keep tucked away in your Heart that this will happen? I’ve dreamed of Hubby coming along with me on photoshoots. He always comes up with excuses. So I just began to leave telling him where I’ll be and approximately when I’d be home. And then left it at that. Really really trying to instill in Hubby that we all have work yet to do BUT it is essential to stop to have FUN! Good luck! I mean it! These guys are tough nuts to crack! 😂 Keep me updated. I’ll send “Good Thoughts” your way to assist you. Come on, J, go have FUN with Sonia!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Laughing as I write …. Oh yes I so wish you luck! Maybe finding a place that may interest him? Now the draw initially for Hubby was the fact Knox Farm is well known here for the wealth behind this family and he was curious to see the mansion and other goodies. Hubby is fascinated by money. Now however he is drinking in the Peace in this place. Anyway ….. I really HOPE you find a way to convince J he is missing out. Took me years to do it here ….. ROFLMAO!!!!!! 😂

Aw, thank you, Eliza. I deliberately kept the shot of the wren with the field in the background instead of cropping in closer cuz I loved the effect too. And yes my fav over all is the Bluebird. This is the first time ever I have seen a Bluebird and I am not, believe me, disappointed. There are two other birds at this park I’ve never before seen which I will be showing soon. SO happy you enjoyed my treasure hunt. I had so much fun that day!! 💜💜💜

These photos are magnificent. How did you get the wren in flight without blur? I have many birds in flight but there’s always a blur somewhere. If you have any setting opinions you can tell me I’d super appreciate it . I love the shots of the blue bird. I love photographing birds so this post caught my eye immediately. Love it !

OH thank you so much for the compliments. The wren I hate to admit was an “accident”. He took off so quickly from the post he was sitting upon that the exact moment my shutter released he flew. The only thing I can tell you in order to get clear shots of birds in flight is to have a high shutter speed. Birds in flight are the most difficult things to photograph. Shooting birds takes patience, a steady hand and a good eye, and quick coordination. When a friend of mind saw that shot of the blue bird with the grasshopper in his mouth, he was blown away. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. (smile) Keep on practicing with the birds in flight. If that is what you really want to do, then do it. Also, I attempted to get back to your blog but could not. Something is not right with your link. Thank you so much for this comment! 💜💜💜
