As long as you are happy
with who you are
never mind what the world
says who you should be.
Be as this turtle
not caring a fig
even if he is carrying
more then his shell.
~~~~
It is in the moments like this one when I was looking at this young snapping turtle that I was fully alive. The more time I spend with Nature the more I prefer that environment then to my own kind. I really like who I am and it is so darn cool that because of who I am, I am being shown some incredible things within the Natural Kingdom.
I am so humbled and so in awe of who and what is crossing paths with me. Some people are so clueless at the Gifts Mother does give us. I actually witnessed a young idiota attempting to get closer to a Great Blue Heron with camera in hand, even though that great bird was extremely close as it was. She had no idea what a Gift she was being given that was right in front of her. She forced the Heron to fly off because she was just came too close.
*Saying with clenched teeth … and she ruined a golden opportunity for me.*
And there she stood swearing up a storm and yelling that this bird had the nerve to fly off. News flash. This park I go to is not a petting zoo and these are real live wild birds and animals that are allowing us the privilege to photograph them. You walk softly and slowly and “feel” when you’ve gotten close enough, then you photograph. When you gain their respect what transpires will leave one’s mouth hanging open.
I will not ever take it for granted what I am being shown by Mother. I am walking in a world that transcends time itself. So I walk like this Turtle not caring a fig if others don’t like who I am. I like me and I will continue to honor Mother in all I do within my life. And I will also continue to show all of you those Gifts I am given. My Intention is for you to realize how incredibly fortunate I am, being the woman I am.
“This park is not a petting zoo . . ” With snapping turtles roaming around, I certainly hope not. 🙂
Well people like this young woman evidently think so and she unfortunately will have to learn the hard way that we are to respect these birds and these animals. Some people’s intelligence level never ceases to amaze me. 🙄
Great photo of the turtle, Amy — I really like seeing the moss on the shell, reminding us to move at our natural speed.
I thought that turtle was so unique carrying what he was on his shell. SO glad you enjoyed this image, Jet. And yes, the thought about SLOWING down came to mind as well and I was torn between talking about that subject or liking ourselves for who we are. Cool that you thought about going at our own speed as well. 💝
She too has to learn that gift within Amy, so the bird let her know…that the camera is but a projection of what is inside ❤
If she does not learn how to respect Mother Nature, she will continually be disappointed. Mother chooses very wisely who she allows into her kingdom. At least that is what I have learned. 🌹🦋🌷
BLESS YOU! That last step is a bit tricky. I have to be really and I mean really “tuned in”. 😘😘😘
That was hard to read because that person was so thoughtless and nasty. It’s the same when parents stand by and watch their horrible children throw stones at the ducks. I’ve said things to people more than once. I don’t know what’s wrong with them.
Thank you for taking a stand, Gigi! I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with some people either to tell you the truth. As I was watching this young woman, I just could not believe how she was acting. And I really did feel anger toward her on account she scared this Majestic bird and taught that bird in that moment to fear a human. People don’t respect other people so how
are they expected to respect Mother Nature Herself? I’m just shaking my head… XOXO
People who aren’t like that can’t be expected to understand those who are. I guess that’s the think. If you’re not thoughtless and cruel, you don’t know how other people can be. Vice versa, I suppose…she wouldn’t understand us either…that’s why it’s impossible to bring about change.
Never say impossible …. I’ve actually seen change happen. Don’t give up hope, please.
Please don’t give up!! It has taken me a long time to understand the editing rooms I use. I also have an extremely good camera, so it all starts there with a great image. How many years have you been actively doing photography? I’ve been doing it for a good 20 years and there is still so much I don’t know. If you have time go look at my images when I first started blogging. They are no where as good as what I am doing today. Since that time I’ve purchased very good glass in lenses, which makes all the difference in the world. I’ve learned how to play around in the editing rooms as well and I must admit, the little I do know, I know how to do well. I use Photoshop and Ninja. I also have Lightroom but I very infrequently use that anymore.
One more thing. Please don’t compare your “style” to mine. We ALL have different techniques and styles. Just hang in there and keep on trying. BIG HUGS!!!! 💝💝💝
Awesome Amy!! Wonderful you know who you are and have the where-with-all to actually live it and be grateful that you are who you are!! The example of that lady who got too close and scared off the blue heron: I believe you are talking about respect – you have respect for nature – and therefore are given a “pass” to get in. Many don’t understand the concept. Thanks for being a great example for this!! Much love to you! Donna
It only took about 60 years for me to be able to say with conviction that I like who I am. LOL And yes sadly too many people have no respect for Mother Nature and as a result their camera cards will sadly be lacking. I do have respect for Nature in all ways as I look to Her for Direction especially when it comes to my gardens. Speaking of …. I am seeing signs of Fall both in the plant world and the bird world. Now that is a bit disconcerting! I will continue to be an example for the rest of my life, Donna, even though some days it feels as if I am always trotting uphill. That gets old, believe me. Thank you SO much for this great comment and for supporting me, both in my art and me as a person. Your presence in my life means a lot!! BIG HUGS!!! 💝💝💝
Thanks Amy – your presence in my life means a lot to me too! I know what you mean about trotting uphill somedays LOL! Yes, I’m too seeing signs of Fall – but we’ve had an outstanding summer here in England – one that hasn’t been seen since the early 70’s! Take care my friend!
Some people think that everything and everyone has to bow in front of them. Respect is definitely something badly missing in them. Respect for life in general. Thank you for your photos. This turtle is another example of the wonderful and creative variety of nature.
Erika, respect in this world is sadly missing in huge ways. Humans don’t respect one another so how would they respect Mother Nature? Bless you for being a part of my Journey and honoring it as I show what respect looks like. I shall continue to bring to you what Mother reveals to me. Much Love to you!! 💝
In my opinion, this is how we can inspire people the most: in being what we want others to experience. You are doing amazing in that, Amy 💖
I know … people never do cease to shock me. I have other stories I have yet to tell here based again on what I have experienced or witnessed that again demonstrates how crass some people can be. Nature is to be respected and cherished … yet so many don’t understand this. May you have a lovely day today, Julie. 💞😎💞
Just beautiful thoughts Amy… Loved that poem… and yes some people will never get it or see nature has to stay as nature and not be interfered with.. ❤
I have some more stories about that which I have observed and what has happened to me. Stories that are none-the-less shocking that show how little people respect Mother Nature and one another.
So well put, Amy. I do like when we can get closer and closer and truly feel that communal relationship with other animals in our environment.
Turtle is doin turtle things and Amy’s doin hers ❤ Not a threat in sight.
