On my way to buy some flowers at a Nursery yesterday, I passed this brand spanking new development which is yet to be completed, that left me not quite believing my eyes that I was seeing what I was. These are not cottages or vacation homes. No. These are year-round homes that are about five minutes driving time from our home. From the looks of it, sand must have been brought in to create a beach.
I never knew there was such a place around here.
I’m going to tell you something I haven’t even told Hubby. My attention was so focused on finding a parking place I didn’t think things through. I saw a place where I could pull off the road, a dirt patch. All I could think of was to get out of the car and to get the shot. I never gave a thought as to how I was going to get my car out of that dirt patch.
There I was in my car after succeeding on getting my shot. I put it in reverse … I have a manual transmission (6 on the floor) … and carefully backed up until my rear bumper came to the shoulder of the road so I could see if traffic was coming. I waited until both lanes were clear and then I went to back up onto the road. The only thing is I didn’t know the dirt patch was a lot lower then the paved road so my car did not go as I had anticipated. My car bulked when my foot hit the accelerator. It seemed I was stuck.
Getting nervous, not knowing when the next car would be coming, I tried again to back up on the road this time giving it more gas … and stalled. Noooooooo! Quickly I turned the car back over, looked both ways, saw that it was still clear and managed somehow to shoot out onto the road. At the last moment as I was reversing onto the road here comes a police car in the oncoming lane towards me. Oh my goodness! If I hadn’t seen him I could have broadsided him!
I was sure he was going to turn around and pull me over. As neatly and quickly as I could I righted my car in the lane that led me home with my eyes in the rear view mirror. Astonished to see that police car got smaller instead of looming on my tail, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Next time I have to think things through a little bit before I do something like this again. That kid in me gets a little out of hand sometimes and gets me in the darnedest situations.
Again comments will be closed today. I will be running around watering my gardens because of lack of rain. I’m also scheduled to get my hair done today … thank God! … which will be a long appointment. Thanks to Doodles’ surgery and Jersey getting pretty ill, I had to put off getting my hair done when I should have. Family over hair. (smile)
Just enjoy my “find” that I am sharing with you. 😘😘😘
