Do any of us
know the whole picture
of that which we call life?
What lies beneath?
What lies above?
Is what we see
or is it a mirage?
of things unknown
to which when seen
we are quick to label
just so we feel
we know this which is called
When I saw the first scene, I stopped in my tracks. How do I capture this when trees and bushes and just too much are in the way of a clear shot? I took a few tentative steps forward. No. That’s not right. That’s even worse. Backwards I walked, never taking my eye off what I wished to capture. Slowly, step by step my eyes measured, gauged, estimated, seeking a way to get through the jungle of branches and trunks. Pictures don’t lie. I found a way to get what I wanted.
The second picture as well, made me stop in my tracks. Brace yourselves cause I’m gonna use the “s” word. In this picture it was snowing pretty good giving this image a hazy look. Butterflies were felt in my stomach it was just that gorgeous. This time with naught to block my way, I zoomed in until I composed upon my LCD screen the exact presentation I desired. By golly I got that too! *sighs with deep contentment*
Standing in the cold and snow, I stared at these scenes for a long time contemplation at hand. Do we even know what life is all about? We may like to think we do, but do we really? Isn’t life a mystery? Anyone who presumes to have all the answers I run from! We can philosophize, talk about, guess, assume (be careful when you do that!), or put together a story to satisfy our need to know what this thing we call life is. Yet we still have only grazed the surface! Or the tip of the iceberg if you will.
When we are open for exploration and room to learn, that is when life begins to get really exciting! Teach me more, show me more, I wanna I wanna see! I’m like a kid at times just so in awe of this process of life. Now this aging thing, however, I’m not too thrilled about but putting that aside, even that has its advantages. I gotta think about that for a minute to come up with one or two pluses. Oops. I got sidetracked.
I leave you with this to think about. We can either live life with a smile or with a frown. We can choose a closed mind or an open one. We can choose to laugh at our own follies and make light of our mistakes. I’ve been accused I don’t take life seriously enough. I most certainly do within those areas of my life I must, but that doesn’t mean I wear a constant frown! I’m busy living this adventure I’ve come to know as life. And that is how it will be till my last breath!
