As I’ve mentioned to some friends, my motivation to pick up my camera lately has been null. Yesterday I made a decision to get back up in the saddle as I did exactly what I said I would do in my previous post. I walked in a nearby forest yesterday bringing along my Therapist … my camera. It felt glorious to be surrounded by trees and green. My spirit let go and sighed deeply, releasing as it did so tension galore as my trigger finger got itchy to push that shutter button. And so it did.
I don’t think the Fall colors will be all that great this year. Sorry. But Mother Nature has been odd this year. The temps have been too warm and from what I saw today, leaves are either just dropping rapidly or the colors that are there are sparse. Lots of russets and yellows and oranges with a few reds here and there, but they are not popping vividly as I’ve seen in past years.
I only used a UV-Haze filter on my lens, leaving my Polarizer lens at home. My intent was to get the color with just my camera and to shoot at a medium range F-stop to bring more of the image into clear focus. I achieved what I had set out to do. Most of my pictures were shot with an F-stop of 8-11. I prefer a slow shutter speed while shooting in a forest so my optimum shutter speed was no higher then 1/30th of a second. You may ask yourself why and I’ll tell you. I like the soft dreamy effect. That’s why.
I really got “lost” in this image. I stood looking at what was before my eyes and just drank in the colors. To me they are so very soothing to my spirit and so I share it with you. I just love the textured look in pictures and this one has that in spades.
Yesterday my passion for my camera was renignited!!! Shall we all shout YES together???
