I just thought a little humor today would brighten your day. 😎
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And what is up with the black clothing these days that is so popular for biking attire? Don’t people understand how hard it is to see black especially on very bright sunny days when the sun is in the driver’s eyes? Doesn’t it make more sense to wear neon colors? This way the biker sticks out like a sore thumb to be SEEN by drivers of huge vehicles whizzing by a bicyclist at ungodly speeds. *shakes head* Fashion versus life? I’ll choose life, thank you, and I will wear bright in your face colors so that I will be seen. Not only do I have bright flashing lights on my bike I wear BRIGHT colors. Black? Are you kidding me???
💞😘💞
You do right, Amy. Wear as much high-viz stuff as you can. PS That first image is stunning.
I will keep on wearing high-viz stuff, Richard. Believe me! I’ve seen the crazies on the road and I will not die because someone didn’t see me all due to the fact I wore fashionable black. And thank you about that first image. Cool yes? ☺️
Put on some mad max spikes on the back of your wheel frame, that’ll show the drivers! 😉
Thanks, Andy!! This insanity of wearing black blows my mind! Don’t people get how “small” they are compared to a car? I’ve seen how cars give me wide berth because I am seen with lights flashing and clothes blaring. Oh for the stupidity of this world all for the name of fashion. Unreal! 😳
I love your photos!! As for black cycling attire, it is crazy…equivalent to yelling at Grim Reaper to come hither! I am with you on neon colors. Thank goodness in my lil red dot cyclists wear neon colors such as lime green, yellow and pink. Also flickering lights on helmets, saddles and shoes. I hope cyclists realise black is not good. Black is for barista or F&B staff.
I’m thrilled my photography “speaks” to you! Good!! You may not understand but the energy within my photography is so very healing and Loving. As for black, talk about stupid. I don’t have blinking lights on my helmet or shoes but I do have flashing lights on the rear and a very high white light in the front (like a single head light). I just bought a whole bunch of neon colored tanks with spaghetti straps (which I LOVE to wear in the summer) just for my bike. Me and laundry well let’s just say, especially in the summer, is not my priority and when I start running out of something that is when I am pulled to my washer and dryer. I’ve learned since my back incident that life is precious and there are more important things then cleaning. No I’m not a slob either by any means but I refuse to clean every day. Anyways … how did I get on THAT subject? 😂Thank you so much for stopping by, Garfield. I’m so happy to see you here! 😘🌸😘
Fully get you as wordpress for me too is a site of encouragement and friendship. Good for you on staying safe as a cyclist! I hope it was not due to a cycling accident that your battled spinal issues! Take care and of course I enjoy reading your posts 😉
No it was not due to a cyclist accident I hurt my back. I injured my back while working as an RN in the hospital that employed me. They made me work 3 hours after the fact because the ICU I was working in had to have a certain amount of nurses in it at all times and that day we were at the minimum. Supervision had to go throughout the hospital to find a replacement for me, not easy because most nurses were terrified of the unit I worked in. LONG story short …. That day was the last day of my life as I knew it to be. And today I am glad for it! 💝
Oh no…so sad…I know sacrifices RNs make as being a patient myself who was totally dependent on RN to wash, dress or even scratch my back. Admirable vocation. I am glad you made that decision and my best wishes to you for a healthy, happy and rewarding life here on! Onward ho my friend and have a great day ahead😊😚
These flowers I would like to see for real too.
I agree with you about the colors, neon is perfect for cycling.
Take care and enjoy your life, dear Amy ❤
Thank you SO much, Irene! How are you? I wish you could see flowers for real too, believe me. You’ve been in that hospital far too long. I just bought a whole bunch of neon colored tops to wear for cycling making sure I don’t have to be bothered to do laundry too often. LOL I love clean yet I will not be a slave to cleaning either. Much Love to you, dear friend!!! Please get home soon!! 🌹😘🌸
Hi Amy!!
OMG!! Stunning photos!!! What an eye you have. The photos all speak to me – if you know what I mean! And – for goodness sake – YES wear colors!!! It is hard enough to see bikers as it is. You would think they WANT to be seen! Keep wearing your colors proud. You go girl!!! Stay safe out there!!!
Donna!!! How I absolutely LOVE comments like yours for I “feel” your astonishment and awe of my photography, the very same I feel. Yes I do have the “eye” yet it takes one to see that, and so I say to you, you have the “eye” as well. It’s a natural born Gift so run with it! I’m wearing my colors. No black for me. Certain times of the day the angle of the sun makes glare a real problem and it is scary to know that there are people out there dressed all in black, including their helmet. All because the majority is doing so? Does anyone stop to even *think* about what they are doing and why? Makes you wonder sometimes, doesn’t it? I am staying safe out there. Today was a neon orange day! It all depends on the time of day and the type of weather that I choose the right color. Hard to explain but my eye is always pulled to a certain color for a certain light situation or time of day. I’m very aware of that. Much Love to you!! 💞
hah, you should see some of the bike riders here, beer in one hand riding the wrong way on boulevards and running red lights. ka-razy! 😲👎
OMG that is terrible! Don’t people understand they are taking chances every time they get on a bike with their lives? Where are their brains??? Or do they even have any left? A beer? On a bike? And going in the wrong direction? Then peeps wonder gee I wonder why so and so got killed. DUH!
spend a little time here and one learns that stupid is the norm among a certain group of people. If you want to drink all the time this is the place and why buy a car when you can spend that money drinking? still, a lot of tourists come back year after year. I still don’t know why.
Not my kind of living, Robert. I know how to have good time without drinking and actually prefer it that way. Stupid is stupid. I don’t do stupid especially on a bike. 😉
Stay safe! Drivers are more distracted and unaware of their surroundings than ever and it is so important to stand out! I’ve seen too many people walking at night in black, too, and it is a very risky choice of clothing. Lights and bright colors are key! Wonderful, breathtaking photos! ~Anne
Hi, Anne! Thank you so much for leaving your name helping me to remember you. I take a lot of effort to know names for those who come here. Black I must admit is fashionable for some, yet let’s get some common sense when it comes to being on a bike and riding on roads. Same goes for walkers who are on roads at night. Where are the brains???? Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Much Love to you this day! 💞🌹💞
Wearing black on a bike is no laughing matter, Marissa. Yes my poem was cute and funny but the subject of bike riding while donned in black is not. It is really hard to see a biker dressed in black. I’ve become very aware of bikers since I’ve been on my bike and I am shocked to see the majority wear black. That’s crazy! Just driving a car these days is risky due to these nuts who are texting much less getting on a bike with no protection except for a helmet. I really do my best to stay on quiet roads, but to get there I have to ride on very busy roads. Goth or not, wise up and wear bright colors so drivers can SEE you. It really is not worth your life being in fashion.
Beautiful images and a very important message, Amy. You need to be seen. Also, bikers are supposed to ride with traffic, unlike pedestrians. The problem with bikers who ride facing traffic is that the distance between them and the oncoming traffic is closing too quickly. This is aggravated by the fact that some are wearing hard to spot clothing. It’s further aggravated by the fact that they don’t follow rules at intersections.
I should have said “don’t get me started”
Oh, Dan, this is a “hot” subject for me too. The idiots I’ve seen out there riding as if they own the road. Who is kidding whom? Please for the love of Pete if you are going to bike know the rules of the road. It’s important to get solid eye contact with drivers especially when turning and it is also important to indicate to drivers that you are turning. I was shocked when I walked into a bike shop and rack after rack held BLACK clothing. OMG! Not me and I shall continue NOT to wear black. Bright colors. Flashing lights. AND I know the rules of of the road as well. And people wonder why bikers get killed. Just where are brains these days????? OK. Nuff said for now that is ….. LOL 😂
Great Pictures AmyRose…What is the first picture of? It almost looks alien 🙂 So beautiful. Well done indeed. And I know what you’re saying about black biking clothes. It is nuts! I guess to each his own but if a bright color will help keep you alive, go for it! You can’t be stylish from the grave…..Hugs your way….VK ❤
(smile) To answer your question it is the center portion of a Peony that has dropped its petals. Isn’t it cool? Indeed it does look otherworldly! And yes I would rather stay alive then go with the majority that wears black on a bike. Bright colors for me!! 🙂 ❤
I would LOVE to have a bad hair day Amy…oh, just to have some hair would be lovely 😀
Actually, I do have hair, I just choose to have it electrically lowered to a couple of millimeters. Standing in front of the mirror isn’t an option, it takes too long to comb each hair anyway 😀
Great shots as usual Amy, and I love the pink rose, she is a dream ❤
Sorry about the lack of hair, Mark. I’m cherishing every hair I have NOW cause I just don’t know with this age thing what my hair is going to do. And thank you about my flowers. That pink Rose lives right outside our living room window giving me the advantage of seeing Her a lot. Magnificent She is!! Much Love! 💞
I completely agree with you about color choice for clothing to wear when you walk along the road or bicycling. I would also think even car colors as well. The colors should be bright or easily catching eyes. Definitely, life over fashion.
THANK YOU, YellowCable! The bright colors only make sense for heaven’s sake! I wore white and neon yellow today on a 13 mile bike ride. I’d say 99.99% of the drivers saw me and gave me plenty of room. There was only 1 idiota. My goal is 20 miles and I’m getting there!! Then when I get there, I’ll go further. YAY! 🤗
I’ve not noticed the trend at all. Maybe it’s not here yet. If I were a cyclist in this city, I’d go for orange and pinks, to stand out from all the green.
Gorgeous flowers 🙂
Yep, orange and pinks and neon yellows too. That is exactly what I have and that is exactly what I wear. Today was bright orange on account of the type of light we had. That too matters. Yeah, Joey, the black here is absolutely crazy. Makes no sense whatsoever. I value life too darn much to follow fashion. Heck, I’ve never followed fashion and I sure don’t plan on starting now, that is for sure! Thank you for the compliment on my photography. Bless you! 🌹
Brilliant photo’s Amy each one perfect with every line.. And yes, I much prefer bikers with bright light colours on to be able to see them when I drive.. Its dusk which is the most dangerous time too, and so many bikes do not have lights or even bells on ..
I dislike when out walking in wooded areas on trails.. When a bike makes you jump as he speeds past from behind.. Why they can not call out or ring a bell just to forewarn you, for their safety too.. My hearing isn’t as sharp as it once was..
Neon I agree is the best colours xx
Thank you about my images, Sue. Thank you! Protocol on a trail should be a warning, verbal or bell, that a biker is coming up to you. I agree that it is all about safety. When I hear a runner behind me I stop hiking and step to the side. It’s called courtesy. And yes YES on the neon colors. This thing with black is so stupid! 💝
