Crashed and exhausted on the couch this past Tuesday, not sure where I was not sore from a nightmare of a Yoga class on Monday followed by a six mile strenuous hike the next day, the last thing I wanted was to get up and “practice” with my new camera. I saw however that the light outside was absolutely beautiful and so with a loud groan of protest I removed that aching body from off that couch.
No way, I just cannot (did I say cannot?) do this! I’m too darn sore! I don’t know how I will even be able to get down to the ground much less hold my camera steady. Have I checked my sanity state lately?
The first few shots had me groaning out load as I lowered my aching battered body into a low stance to maintain until I could get the shot I wanted. At one point I laid my head on the ground (when I did finally manage to get there), just breathing, and praying this practice would pay off.
What I would do for a hot shower and my bed at that point!
As I struggled to get to my feet I then went into my backyard and there began to take some more shots. It wasn’t until my eye was drawn to a certain Rose that I felt the excitement bubble up. Could this be IT, the reason why I dragged my sorry butt off the couch? I peered through my lens viewer and gasped!
OH. MY. GOD. Some of what I saw I could see with my naked eye but not all. I managed to get into a crouch. With one very sore knee on the ground while I straddled a Rose bush with my other leg lunging, to position me and my camera perfectly to frame what I saw I kept my eyes peeled. Holding my breath, steadying my hands, I very carefully panned my camera, slowly ever so slowly until I “knew” YES oh YES this is it!
I depressed the shutter button. I got it!!! I got it exactly as I wanted it. Disregarding my sore protesting body, I stood up quickly and headed towards the garage where I knew hubby was. When I showed him what I captured he stood there stunned, disbelieving in fact in what he saw.
I have surpassed even my “Amy Standards” for my photography. With this image I am showing you today, a goal I have been striving towards has been attained. I’m standing atop a mountain top grinning from ear to ear because something I didn’t even know I was seeking, I found in that shot. Now that I have attained this goal, it is clear I keep moving ever forward to another unknown goal, one that I will not know until I see it.
Patting myself on the back I leave you with,
❤ ❤ ❤

Just think, Van, if I had given into the exhaustion and pain, I would have missed this once in a lifetime shot. That’s the whole miracle about this image. I couldn’t even envision myself getting down to the ground, I was just that sore, and to not only to do so, but to see this …. Blow me away! I’ve begun to get the hang of this camera!! Oh for the JOY! 🙂 ❤

Yes, Scott, that is exactly what had me gasping. The light that was streaming from the low horizon sun which in turn created magic just blew me away. I’m getting the hang of this camera!! Lots more fun and practice to come!!! 🙂 ❤

Tee hee ….. If I cannot make fun of myself and have a good laugh on me, what’s the point? You have no idea how hard it was to get off that couch, but now? I am SO glad I did!! The light that I saw while on the couch was magical and called to me, and as it did, I sighed loudly … REALLY today? But following through, I got a shot that had me whooping! I’m glad to know I made you laugh, Laura. In return I am laughing right now as I type these words. LOL Thank YOU!!! ❤

With a few exceptions I can tell you that no great adventure ever happened on the couch, I’m glad you got moving again…I was thinking of trying Yoga, I may do it now, but a little bit more cautiously.

Yoga I really highly recommend, Charlie. It was just that whoever put this class together, did so in a way that in my opinion, was not appropriate. Even the instructor was struggling. Too many poses within too little time making for the entire class to be frustrating and just too darn hard. Some Yogas are more aggressive then others. Please do your research before you begin so you do the right Yoga for you, or if not, you will just be discouraged and quit. I will not be returning to this class again until the class protocol is changed, which they do every couple of weeks. Good luck!!! ❤

I can feel your enthusiasm all the way over here, Kathy!! YES!! This is how I felt too and still feel about what I captured. Just imagine what I can do, my friend, with this new camera! I am covered in goosebumps just thinking about it. Thrilled is putting it mildly how I feel. The Journey has begun …. I have a few other shots from that same evening that are pretty impressive. I’ll see if I can get them posted. I don’t like saying that because I have pics from a park in mind and pics from a storm in mind and then the pics I shot with my macro lens. *sigh* IF I only had my photography I would be posting 3-4 times a day or putting together multiple pic posts. Just know I always do my best to get to Petals those pics that I think are the best. Right now there are just so many. LOL (((HUGS))) ❤

Glad you can feel my enthusiasm, Amy. Loving this Journey you are taking. and you have gotten me more motivated. Finished putting 3 collages of the red peppers and make a post soon. Also got a close-up of a morning dove sitting near our house. Having too many pics is a good thing. Love you ❤

Thank you, Karen, so much!!! Yes the Light was phenomenal that evening. That is what got me off that couch when my body was just so so sore. I LOVE this camera but am going slow. I seem to be digesting what I am getting, allowing my camera to sit for a little while, and then pick it up again. And there is a “follow my Heart” thing with me that I don’t know how to explain. I just pick my camera up when I feel the urge. 🙂 ❤
LikeLiked by 1 person
The ‘follow my heart’ thing is because of what you have been through, you are ‘opening’ within, and are beginning to ‘hear’ your higher self Amy 🙂 (as you go through tough times in your life, you effectively release fears and begin to truly love yourself…that is the ‘opening’ 🙂 )
It is usually just a ‘knowing’ of something that comes through, and as you adjust to it, you will gradually feel it ‘all’ the time, it becomes who you really are.
Enjoy the journey…oh, and the camera…sounds like it is now a big part of your path 🙂

My Journey of following my Heart began after my severe back injury as doctors and surgeons alike wanted more of a piece of me. Instead of listening to them, I decided to come back to health in my own way and 23 years later, I’m still doing it. Now it has come second nature to me as I blindly follow the “urgings” from within, and trust them. I have a general idea of where I am headed, but the details and the wheres and hows, no idea. I call it flying by the seat of my pants. Now I know no other way to live. Some of who are in my Life get so frustrated with me because I live the way I do, for they themselves must have a structure to live by. Don’t get me wrong, I do have structure especially when it comes to the care of both myself and my cats. The Journey however, flows. I had a conversation recently with someone who said it must be “scary” to know the future by “reading signs”, totally misunderstanding the concept of living by Heart. I explained as best as I could, no it is not scary and also, I do not know the future … Just following the signs is all. You I know understand from whence I come from and it is nice to have someone to understand.
Hope you have a good weekend, Mark. Much Love to you, ❤

Last week, I literally worked in hot warehouse for over 50 hours. I am dragging this week which may end up 45 hours. . .
We both need a sauna and spa treatment but who will pay for this extravagance? 🙂 Hugs, more hugs xo ❤
