  1. Lovely shots! 🙂
Are you using the same lenses on the new camera as you are on the old one? Coz this seems odd that one camera should do better at one end of the spectrum and the second one at the other end…..

    1. New lens for landscape shots and same lens for my macro. My new camera is more sensitive and the settings I was used to for my macro photography I have to play with. I’ll get it. Just brings more flavor into the scheme of things, don’t you think? 🙂 ❤

      1. Your new camera should be a treat! Though I’ve always been a Nikon man myself. 🙂
I’m still a little surprised at the settings issues since that is one of the steady things about DSLRs (unless you move from DX to FX format) but I’m sure you’ll figure it out. 🙂

      2. It’s not the settings per say. What I meant is how I actually take macro shots. I used to underexpose, for example, but now it seems due to the full frame on this baby, I have to adjust there. The settings themselves are more sensitive, as in f/stops with macro so I need to adjust there. My new camera is more powerful then my 50D. As with my new camera, the functions are all the same with added new that I have to learn. Sorry for the confusion. Bottom line I have to learn new how to take macro shots with my 6D in order to achieve the results I obtained with my 50D. And I will probably discover new as well. 🙂 Does this clear up the confusion? Please say yes! LOL

    1. May your Sunday be Blessed as well, Sue. I plan on going for an easy hike today. The pain over loosing my Karma is too harsh right now so I turn to Mother and my body to bring solace again. As for the challenges, I’m up for them. 🙂 ❤

      1. It’s still off and on, Sue. Loosing Karma was like loosing a part of me. He was a soul mate, something I am not able to explain. How can an animal be a soul mate? That I don’t know. But he showed to me a Love no one, man or animal, has ever shown me. My only saving Grace is creating, and that I promise to do. That and much rest, sleep and good food for I truly pushed myself far beyond my limit. Out of Love I did this and yes I will do it again. Yet now it is of the utmost importance I heal in all ways. Love you, Sue! ❤

  2. A lovely conclusion of 50D of yours. Love the close up hydrangea picture. I understand that the challenge can be reversed going to full frame from APS-C sensor. For the same lens focal length, you get wider with full frame and loss reach especially with macro. The Depth of field is another one in similar manner.

    1. Exactly! I have to find the sweet spot on this new camera in order for me to get the same results or better with my macro lens. Thank you for understanding, YellowCable. I have quite the education ahead of me as I figure out how to shoot with my macro lens. I could cheat and go back to my Canon 50D. Even though it is slowly fading, I can still use it. That would defeat the purpose though. Using my new camera with my macro lens in time, I’ll get it. What a JOY to see the results from the landscape shots I have been taking. Wow!! The detail in them blows me away. Now I have to find that sweet spot with my macro shots. I will!!! 🙂 ❤

      1. Oh, yes another possible advantage of full frame is that it takes less demand on high resolution from lens as opposed to APS-C sensor does.

For macro purpose or cases where you need extra reaches, using 50D isn’t a cheating. Use the right tool for the right job, that is.

      2. I really love the way my 50D takes macro, YC. Until I get the hang of my new camera I just might use my 50D. It seems to still be going strong with macro compared to landscape. Go figure. I have a lot of juggling and and lot of learning to do. I will be showing (I think) a macro shot with my next post taken with my 6D. The difference you will see immediately. I have yet to upload into my editor, so it really depends on what I see there if I show it or not. So much to learn ….. And I will, just in small chunks so I don’t get discouraged. 🙂 ❤

      1. Thanks, Dan. My next post just might have one. This way you will be able to watch me improve. The perfectionist in me says no no no don’t show them, yet you’ve now given me motivation to do just that. I am smiling as I write this. 🙂 ❤

      2. FYI …. Starting with my next post, you will see my less then Amy standards’ photos. I hope you are happy. Seriously, I’m really glad you did say something. Now we all can watch me grow!!! 🙂

    1. LOL These pictures are from my OLD camera, Monica. This post is saying goodbye to my Canon 50D for my next post will be introducing my 6D. I may however still use my 50D for macro because I really LOVE the way that camera takes macro shots. My new camera I am finding out I have to learn how to use it with my macro lens to get the same kind of effects I do with my 50D. Much Love, Monica!! ❤

      1. So, my English was bad this time 😦 It was a misunderstanding, Amy. I translate concludes like conclusions. My mistake. Much Love to you, too, my Amy ❤

    1. Erika, I am thrilled you said what you said, because my images have messages in of themselves and are so full of emotion! What Mother allows me to see is mind blowing. The next post will be different and it will be befitting. You’ll see. 🙂 ❤
PS. Too close again to tears today, my friend, with the pain in my Heart over Karma so I am going on an easy hike to surround myself with green. This journey of coming to acceptance, especially with Karma, has been very hard. Some of my fur kids, those who cuddled with him and looked to him for comfort, are also having a tough time. That in of itself brings tears to my eyes as I see them still so sad. So, I bring home the forest and share with my "kids". Of course I am bringing my new camera along … Wouldn't leave home without it!!! 🙂 ❤

      1. The message you share with your photos is seen, Amy, and it is amazing what wonderful words you always find to support it.
I can understand your grief not only for yourself but also for Karma’s family. It is so hard to say goodbye to a being that has been so close. Last week from one day to another I had to put my 8 year old guinea pig asleep. Although I did not want them and knew I would not want to keep that pet zoo up it was heartbreaking. And it also was to give his younger friend away that same day. No guinea pigs anymore.

  3. Beautiful shots, all three Amy! I look forward to seeing photos with your new 6D. I was considering that camera, but looking at my needs decided for the new 80D and I am still far from mastering it 🙂

    1. I have SO much to learn, Tiny. This camera is a completely different machine and it captures far differently then my 50D. I was taken aback, not expecting this. I’m happy for you that you decided on the 80D. My 6D is more then enough for me!!! Please accept my apologies for not getting over to see you more often. Between all that went down with 2 of my babies dying and then going, and now getting caught up in my home and gardens, dealing with not on my grief but of my other fur kids’, then figuring out how to use this camera, I have very little time here on the computer. I look forward to the “quiet” winter. I have FAITH it will be quiet darn it!! Whew! 🙂 ❤

    1. Yes exciting, overwhelming, and fun! I have to discover how to get the effects especially in macro with this new camera that I was able to with my other camera. Work in progress while at play. 🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you humbly, Morgirl. My emotions seem to guide me and Mother is allowing me into Her World deeper and deeper. Sometimes I stare at wonder in a “pinch me” state unable to get over that what I am looking at I created. I am in awe of me! Totally. And I am in awe of God who has been so generous with Talent when it comes to me!! 🙂 ❤

    1. Ah, that sounds like you have one too, Julie!! It’s a big difference between my 50D and right now I am in a major learning curve. I knew all the sweet spots on my 50D but not on this one. It’s a whole different scenario!!! I LOVE the way it fits in my hand and the sensitivity of the shutter button is amazing. SO much new to learn as well. 🙂 ❤

  4. Hi Amy, I missed your blog for a while. For some reason which was not under my control WP turned off email notices from your blog to my box. I thought you stop to post your pictures and thoughts. Then I found I am off your posts. Lucky me I found the problem and came back.
Regarding your last pictures from 50D I can say that the camera is only tool the artist is making the picture. Your experience is unbelievably jumped up. These three pictures are just amazing! Hopefully, your new camera will help you to grow up as an Artist even more.
    Have a nice day!

    1. Alexander, humbled greatly I am by your words. I know you have been one of the few who have been with me since I first began Petals, and yes my photography has improved over the years. You have seen it. I know it. But to hear you say what you do just humbles me. I LOVE what I do and I am constantly striving to improve, to learn, to bring here to Petals photography that solely is mine. My new camera already is helping me grow as I saw last evening. I have so much new to learn which excites me. Good to know I am back in your email box. WP at times really throws a wrench into things. Hope your day is a good one!!! ❤

      1. Thank you, Amy. My days this summer are really busy but full of excitement with important family members and friends who I did not see for almost 20 years.
Enjoy the end of Summer with your new camera!
