Taken yesterday at Chestnut Ridge Park, what caught my eyes were the golden lines and hues of yellow grass . Deliberately shooting at a low f-stop and on manual focus, I was going after a dream like quality. I do believe I achieved just that.
I have become so accustomed shooting with manual focus, I am finding I am truly enjoying doing the same thing with landscape photography. I like to be in control of my camera and where exactly I want the focal point to be. I am also realizing I have a lot to learn and to apply to landscape photography. Macro photography I can practically do blindfolded, yet with this too, I am pushing my boundaries as I have begun to show you here on Petals.
I think this image depicts perfectly lazy, hazy days of Summer. I have so many places I wish to yet visit this Summer and yes I do plan on bringing my Canon camera along with me. Practice time has arrived, at least it sure feels that way to me, and oh oh oh I feel so elated to have my eyes on landscape opportunties seeking patterns, colors, textures all in an attempt to create Art.
And now for a wee bit of humor. Some of you will laugh when I tell you I remembered to bring everything with me yesterday that I would need to complete my photo shoot, except for one teeny weeny thing.
Duh! I forgot to put on the bottom of my camera the attachment needed in order to be able to carry my camera on my camera vest. Yup, I brought the vest, in fact spent a good 30 minutes adjusting the darn thing at home (what adjustment this vest doesn’t have … yiveh!) and the reason why I had to adjust it is because the last time I used it was in Winter when I wore a heck of lot more clothes. Big difference between Winter clothing and scanty Summer clothing.
But that vest was good for nothing to me, spending the entire time I hiked in the trunk of my car, all because I forgot to attach what was needed in order to put my camera on that vest. Grrrrrrr ……. (some choice words were used when I realized what I did!) LOL I ended up carrying my camera via the strap over my shoulder.

Much Love,
❤ ❤ ❤
You are spreading sunshine and warmth in is, dear Amy. You give us hope and smiles, too. Lovely words plus a sense of humor (along with aggravation!) Too bad about our faulty memory lapses. . . I feel your pain, as I scramble to round up my keys. . . 🙂
Peeking out from the cool trees into the golden grasses was gorgeous photography. Hugs and kisses xoxoxo<3

Robin, I have been forgetting not only to do things but things I have done. It is all due to the massive stress I have been under. My memory will improve over time, I know. As I was in the process of hiking the horror thought passed through my mind I did not lock my car. I did not remember doing it. I almost turned around but stopped and prayed, asking Angels to protect my car. When I returned, yep, it was locked. I’m so glad I continued with my hike and had faith that all would be OK. I did get some pretty cool shots. Hope you are having a good weekend. ❤

Carol, in the process of healing, I need green, I need quiet, I need forest. I have several different parks in mind to explore probably in August, and now that I have that camera vest all adjusted right, all I have to do is remember to attach the part I need in order to put my camera on my vest. That would help. LOL 🙂 >3

Very nice picture, Amy. I have not success in using manual focus through a view finder at all.

It comes with practice, YellowCable. I have become so accustomed to it with all the macro shots I do, I now prefer it to automatic. Now for those quick shots yes I will use automatic. Hope you are having a good weekend!!! ❤

I like your composition. The focal point for me is where the light hits the dark-. Your Golden dream grass is the perfect horizon…very calm. Thanks for sharing how you achieved the effect you desired…😉. Vest woes…giggle… adorable

Thank YOU for the encouraging words! This is a brand new venture for me so to know that I achieved what I set out to do is very gratifying. In the future I will be trying all kinds of things. I also didn’t say but it is so important to understand WB. I took a few test shots in order to get the desired look I wanted with different setttings and was really surprised at the difference. AWB I do not like at all and never use. My shutter speeds were also very slow, some as low as 1/30 hand held. Good thing I have very steady hands. Next time I go shooting I am turning the stabilizer off. I think it actually interfered with my images that I took yesterday again because my hands are just that steady. I will be experimenting more. And about that vest …. I just about hit myself over the head. I made so sure I had everything I needed and then to find out I forgot that attachment. Duh!!! You made me smile knowing I made you laugh with my “woe” story. LOL ❤

David, I did not prepare everything I did and to make the trip to my destination just to turn around because of one thing I forgot. I figured out a way to carry my camera, yes more cumbersome then the vest, but I managed. The light was magical yesterday and I just was not about to miss out. SO glad you enjoyed this!!! Have a great weekend! ❤

Holy macro!! Already??? Summer FLEW by this year! Doesn’t it usually though? You look so forward to it, at least I do, and before you know it you are staring at Autumn. *sighs* And yes, Marissa, I always have my strap on my camera. I always shoot with the strap around my neck just in case I drop my camera. I’d be heartbroken if my camera ever broke much less my expensive lenses. Smiling here knowing you enjoyed my picture. More will come and I plan on going to other parks to explore with my Canon. Much Love, ❤

Yes, always look forward to your photos so glad to know there are more on the way and your camera is well protected. Don’t know why they do this to the school year. Used to be June -September vacation, now May to August. Don’t know why. It’s still the same amount of time but somehow makes it feel shorter when it ends smack in the middle of the summer.

Colleges begin in August. Now regular school? I remember going back in September and sitting in classrooms yearning to be outside, it being g still so nice. The travails of life….

Stunning capture of the sunshine, Amy. We can’t remember everything, but that must have been very annoying.

Annoying? LOL OH you do not want to know what I said when I realized what I forgot! Tee hee ….. Due to all the stress that has been going on, I seem to be forgetting what I have done and forgetting to do what I need to. Ah, that too will change once I return to smooth sailing. Hope you and hubby are enjoying your new home, Sylvia! 🙂 ❤

We are slowly recovering from the passing of Prinny and Karma, Gigi. It’s so important that peace and quiet and a normal routine be again established and that those with symptoms be taken care of. We’re getting there. Thank you so much for asking! ❤

Sorry about the vest thing, Amy but the photos are gorgeous. It does look likd summer. We don’t have much that is green here, unless it’s being watered by a grounds crew.

This is the realy weird thing, Dan. We are in a severe drought here yet the trees are all green. This forest I hike in has the most amazing green color to it to the point I’ve wondered just how these trees are staying so green without rain? More pics will be coming where I intend to show you that magical green. The thought has crossed my mind now that some time has opened up for me, how I would love to document this drought we are having. I’m living history. Hope you are having a great weekend! Be over to see your post either later or the morrow. Chillin’ on the couch watching movies and in between reading a good book …. 🙂 I’m working on getting my stress levels down. ❤ ❤ ❤

Lovely shot, Amy. You certainly know what works for you. I too like shooting in manual mode for control – though sometimes you really hope the best for each shot, manually we can adjust the settings so we get a fairytale closer to the reality we want 😀 Lol at your funny story. I bet you carried that with a lot of gusto. The other day I went out with my tripod and camera. I got to the spot and set up..and realized I forgot the tripod plate to attach the camera on 😀

LMAO Now I don’t feel so bad! I’m not the only one who forgets! I bet you said a few choice words too. Too funny, especially after your last post about cursing. Hysterical!!

Yes, Amy. Had a few choice words. I had traveled a bit to pose in front of an Einstein mural with my tripod…had to come back the next day with it all. Hope it don’t happen to you 😀

I leave my tripod plate on all the time. It’s been so long since I put the attachment on for my vest I have to figure out if I have to take it off first before I put the vest attachment on. I’ll figure it out. I’ll write a note so I don’t forget. 😉 LOL

I would love to leave my tripod plate on my tripod, but if I do, it does not fit in the bag that came with it! It is ridiculous, I know. So I have resorted to putting the plate in after I slid the tripod in 😀
