Untethered

In the soaring
it is only possible to fly
untethered to those things
that anchor and drown.

Friends, this is an optical illusion, one that I  did not create with digital art.  What I shot I actually did not even see in my viewfinder, only seeing this when I uploaded it into my editor.  That is when my teeth fell out of my head, or would have if I had false teeth.  (giggle)

What you are seeing is MAGIC.  In back of this tree limb is WATER with the reflections of the trees from the shoreline on that water.  No matter how long I look at this picture, it just does not look like water flowing over the falls, which in reality, it is.  Stunned?  I know I am and I took this photograph!  UNBELIEVABLE!  Yet, seeing is believing, and yes, um do I hear your teeth hitting the floor now?  LOL

    1. Oh, Scott, thank YOU! When I saw what I captured I could not believe my eyes. I caught the light and the angle just perfectly in order to create this optical illusion. I stood on a bridge freezing my bahooney off, yet in that freeze, I found LIGHT. (smile) More from this series are coming. I just have to find the time to edit them. LOL Have a great day today!!! ❤

    1. You are exactly correct, Carol! I “hear” words that have me running for my yellow pad of paper and pen. These words I heard BEFORE I shot this image. Again I felt so humble when I realized that they match perfectly together as ONE. Have a great day, my friend. I’ll be over to see you later. 🙂

      1. (Smiling) We both are very grateful for this “ability”, believe me. These words come through me, but are not from me. I have SO many like this for this week, I HOPE I will be able to get them all on. The words were not coming for a LONG time, Carol, and now, they are coming so fast some days I can barely keep up with them. 🙂 ❤

    1. *happy dance* !!!! Thank you, Susan! I tell you true, I had to have set up my tripod at the exact correct height and set my camera at the exact right angle in order to have gotten this shot. I used ONLY my eyes and my “hunches” and still at the time of the shoot, I did NOT realize the magic I had captured. I KNEW I got something extraordinary, but when I saw what IT actually was when I uploaded this image in my editor, my jaw dropped and I kept on saying NO WAY! Yep. Yes way! I do not believe in all these techy gatgets to measure and this and that. I believe in using EYES, HEART, and GUT and that is how I spin MY magic. LOL Thank you thank you thank you for SEEING, my friend!!!!! Love you!!! ❤

    1. Marissa, I who took this photo, even I cannot figure it out. I KNOW what is really there, for I saw it with my own eyes. But this image says other. The tree is a huge branch that washed down the creek and in the freezing temperatures, froze right on the waterfalls. This is a real optical illusion, one that I myself still have trouble believing I created. The height of my tripod was perfect, the angle of both my camera and the angle I shot at were perfect, and the lighting was perfect. I seriously got lucky and found MAGIC. Sorry to hold you up this morning. 🙂 ❤

      1. From what I could deduce yes. It is huge and how it even managed to stay where it is, is totally beyond me. Once that ice melts it will be moving downstream.

  1. Now I see what you meant when you replied to my comment the other day Amy. It does look like it can’t be. This is a great photo. Untethered for sure, but seemingly frozen in time. Very nice indeed!

    1. SO glad you enjoyed this so as much as you did, Dan! No matter how long I look at this, my brain just doesn’t compute that it is water going over that stone wall and NOT trees. (smile)

    1. Thank YOU, Amanda!!! I had had such a tough week, and I was SO tired when I went to shoot these images, that I was truly taken aback that I literally walked into MAGIC regardless the fact I was tired, regardless the fact I had a very hard week and wanted nothing more then the couch and a good movie. I actually did not know the entire story of this image until I saw it in my editor and then my jaw dropped. I could not believe my eyes.
Anyways …. I cannot get over to you unless you comment here at Petals. I do not see you in my reader and when you just like my work there is NO link to get over to see you. I feel so badly that I have not been over to see you but I don’t know how to. I miss you!!! And I LOVE you!!! Hope all is well with your Life. Mine has been …. tough. And right now I’m walking Tough Love. *sigh* Thank you for coming here today! You made my day!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

      1. Walking through tough love. Sounds very familiar. I’ve been off for about three weeks now, hence why I haven’t been in the reader. (I’ve been going through a bit of a dark time) I have no idea why you can’t click onto my website though? You should be able to… *shakes fist at WordPress* I despair of it…

I was scanning through the reader and your image jumped right out of me, and I just had to come over here and visit. I’ve missed you so much. And trust me, it put a smile back on my face. Gosh! I miss my WP family so much. I must return soon… But I must also, as you always say, look after myself first. I’m sure things will get better soon (well, I hope!)

Sending you lots of love x

      1. I noticed that you were on a roll, Amy. I too am glad that I am receiving the emails for your post. Not sure what happened but seems to be fixed. Crossing fingers here! Bless you and rest well ❤

      2. I just had to test your email, that’s what I think. 😉 I’ve had such challenging situations in my life lately that I was using WP as an escape. I know I was. Things have gotten a bit better finally! I may even post again today. I don’t know. I have yet to edit any more pics. Am I up to it? We’ll see. 🙂 Love you!!! ❤

      3. Who knows but glad that WP is working again 🙂 I can understand blogging to escape. Hoping that everything continues to work out. I have done that also in the past. HUGS ❤

    1. You’re in good company, Raewyn. LOL Mine has still not come from off the floor. Tee hee ….. Everything was perfect. The height and angle of my tripod, the angle of my camera, and the lighting. I do not know if I could ever replicate what I did on that bridge Saturday evening. Just magical!!! ❤

    1. Oh wow, Maverick!!! Thank YOU! If I had to duplicate this I don’t think I could. My tripod was at the exact correct height and angle with my camera as well at the exact right angle, and the light, perfect as well. I walked up and down on the bridge, just looking, feeling things out, and then I just let go and let my Heart and gut and “eye” do what was needed. I honestly did not know what I had until I uploaded this image in my editor and that is where I lost it. NO WAY!!!! I could NOT believe my eyes. Bless you for saying what you did. Those two words you used, and man, you have got me on cloud nine. (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

LOVE this image. Comibines the motion (flow of life) and stillness (death) in such a beautiful way – and they aren’t separate. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing your beautiful art, Amy ❤

    1. What a beautiful comment, Gia. Thank you! And you are very welcome. I LOVE sharing, my friend, I really do! I read a book recently that says if we don’t create and use our special Gifts and then share them with the world, we really have not done much at all. I agree. Have a great day!!! ❤

      1. totally distracted by life events and haven’t been writing or taking photos much. Spending a lot of energy on property searches/visits trying to find a place to move to. Kids are growing and we need more space. Property market is crazy out there, makes the whole process very stressful!!! The rainy weather hasn’t help either, hopefully I’ll be out taking photos a bit more as spring takes hold! 🙂

      2. Life will do that, JM. I so do know. I really wish you all the best in finding a home. The process you speak of is stressful in not ony finding the right home, but the moving as well. One day I will be in your shoes and to be honest I am NOT looking forward to it. Going through more then 30 years worth of stuff and going into new is way out of our comfortable zone. You’ll be back with your camera soon, or should I say, when the right time comes along? (Smile) Hang in there!!! ❤
