So! Here I was again, pulling into Chestnut Ridge County Park for my seven mile walk just after having a very tough and exasperating morning. I was late. I was frazzled. I looked at the time and groaned. My Life just seems to be “dictated” by time and if I truly wished to do anything for myself, I had to jump into chunks of time between two fixed points, A and B. Sighing, I just sat in my car collecting my thoughts and as I did, my eye caught a panorama set out before me.
Wow! Quickly I jumped out of my car to assume a position about the same as when I was sitting in my car, framed the view on my phone, and snapped!!! Gray and dismal, with heavy lead laden clouds, damp and dreary this day may be, but darn it, I would find sunshine somewhere!!!
The silhouette of Buffalo lay nestled in grays and a hint of orange. I stood for many a minute just taking in the view. OK!!! I can do this walk and since I am pressed for time, I will have to move! I collected all I would be taking with me, locked my car, and off I went. I again was dressed in layers even though I could visibly see my breath! (It seemed without the sun shining it was more challenging to bring in a clear selfie.)
As I walked and did so as fast as I could, I prayed the entire time for signs of sunshine for me to find. The Angels of this forest heard and rejoiced, for They went ahead of me in glee to make sure I would see this …
SMILING!!! HEART SIGHS …
⇓
CONTEMPLATING HMMMMMM….!
⇓
GRINNING AND LAUGHING OUT LOUD!
⇓
You know how much I Love water and waterfalls. My eyes were drawn to these waters and as they were, my feet followed. The third image of the waterfalls I had to kneel down in the cold, wet mud but did I hesitate? Absolutely not!!! And so I paid no heed to my wet knee and captured this delight that Angels did send. My Heart became Light and my determination to rise above the mundane again fell into place. Who said Life was easy? Not me. Yet with a Happy Heart and above all with Love, we all can overcome anything.
I continued my walk and arriving at this big hill, I just had to stop to take a picture and then text my sister to say, “I am now walking down this” …
YAHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
⇓
Finally I was able to get a decent shot of this hill, the hill that all who walk or run in this park know as the Mother Hill. She is aptly named for this hill is huge and seems to go on forever, especially when going up. This image is not all of Mother Hill, oh no, yet this view shouted, “take me” and so I did. I just about jogged down that hill, filled with such Gratitude that once again my Heart was Happy.
I walked with a spring now in my step, my breath under control, my lungs filling deeply and evenly. As I neared a place that always tells me, “Another two miles and you will be finished“, the Angels guided my eyes to this incredible visible growth of roots.
While taking this image, I heard, “Unless you get to the root of any problem, that problem will still exist.” Ahhhh, yes, yes, understanding came in spades, yet I honestly did not have the solution to the root of the problem that occurred that very morning. Time to put my Faith shoes on for the solution to come, so I can address the roots by changing the problem to, “Hey, it’s fixed.”
Nearing my destination to the one last mile mark my legs still feeling strong, my eyes saw white. White? Ah, the park rangers were setting up santas but how strange because they have not done that before, not on this side of the park. As I neared this white, my mouth flew wide open and my eyes filled with tears, for what I saw was the last thing I ever did expect to see on a gray and dismal, with heavy lead laden clouds, damp and dreary day. Am I dreaming? But no, no!!! The Angels put the icing on the cake to make sure my smile was back by sending a bride and a groom whose smiles and JOY lit up the entire park. The closer I got the more I felt that blast of Love, of JOY. Did I ever get choked up!
I could not help myself. I asked if I could take some pictures, and I was warmly greeted and encouraged to step in close to take a few snaps. And wouldn’t you know it, my phone decided to have a spaz attack and act up as I struggled to get a perfect picture of this glowing couple. GROAN!!! I felt so shy, and I did not wish to intrude, and here I am struggling to get a good shot. I took several shots yet all but the one below came in pretty clear. If this was not a sign that LOVE again was ruling my Heart, I don’t know what was. (And yes I do have this couples’ permission to post this image.)
Before I could stop my mouth, my Heart said to this young man, “Love your wife with all you’ve got, hold her close to your Heart, and know that with LOVE anything can be overcome.” Isn’t this young woman about the most radiant bride you have ever seen?
Take a good look at this last picture. Notice how drab and deary, and downright ugly the surroundings are that comprise the environment of this couple. Yet despite these circumstances, the glow of Love was so powerful all present could feel it. Do you honestly think these two young people even saw the ugly surroundings? I doubt it. All they saw were each other! And mind you, it was really cold out too!
The Message here, my friends, is, when you focus on Love even in dark situations, that Love will take the lead, shining with such force that the darkness around you will not even be noticed. What a powerful display of what Love is capable of!!
I leave you with these thoughts. Everything works together. Now, if I had gone on my walk at my usual time, I would have missed this bride and groom and I would not have this glowing couple to show you. Think about that! (smiling)
And oh … I certainly found sunshine, wouldn’t you say?

I know I am. Every time I go to this park, and see the wondrous sights, I feel such deep gratitude that I live so close to this Paradise on Earth. There are other parks in my area as well, but for now, I am totally in Love with this one! I honestly could take thousands of photographs and every single one of them would be different. The possibilities here are endless!!! I am SO glad you enjoyed this post!! This and more I must focus on in order to rise above the dark and the mundane of what has become our reality in this world. Have a great Sunday and thank you for commenting!!! Love, Amy ❤

YellowCable, to cross paths with this couple was the most incredible experience I have had in a LONG time. The closer I approached the more I could FEEL their Love and JOY! They were surrounded by 4 professional photographers and the way she was dressed, I’d say they are a “somebody” yet, the sincerity, their evident LOVE just pouring forth, stunned me. I could NOT believe my phone started messing up (it was cold) and yes I did have several portrait shots that showed her gorgeous gown, but all of them were blurry. Grrrrrr …. I will never forget this day for as long as I live. Just picturing these two, and remembering the “feeling” of the experience, brings my spirit to such Bliss. I was literally blown away! And on top of that, one of the photographers showed me what he shot! I’m actually tearing up writing this. I don’t think I have ever seen a couple more in Love then these two. If anyone has a chance of making it, these two do!! (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

This young couple found the perfect spot for a shoot, I think. Their radiance lighted up the surroundings, forever in their photo book, I think, and on your blog in that one fantastic image.
Your walk cleared your mind, obviously. It gave me a great start to my Sunday as well. ❤

Cuz, that young couple lit up the forest as I could actually feel their LOVE radiate out, blasting all chill and gloom away. It was incredible! Every time I walk, Mother always gives me Gifts but that day, She outdid Herself. I return today and wonder … gee, what will I see today? The sun is out so picture taking should be a bit easier and a lot prettier as well. (smile) Thank you, cuz, for stopping by and commenting!!! (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

Many of us need an encouraging word, a smile, and someone just to reach out and touch in Love. For this is how I am being used by He who made me. As for this young woman’s wrap, it was so luxurious and gorgeous I knew it to be real. I sure hope so for her sake because it was cold! I will never forget what my eyes saw that day. The signs of sunshine God sent my way I cherish with all I am!!! BIG (((HUGS))) and thank you for commenting, Wendy! Love, Amy ❤

Ah, Amy, what a beautiful post and such gorgeous pictures. You took the first one from the top of the toboggan slide, right?, near the big swings and the casino? I remember that view.
And what luck to be there when the bride and groom were. I hope they always look that happy, and somehow I suspect they will – they just seem to be right for each other.
See you soon, my friend.

Dan, again you are here to share with me a part of me and my Life. Thank you!! To find such Treasures on a day when I really had a rough morning, just goes to show you how Mother really hears me, and She is more then glad to get me to happy again! I was blown away by this couple for I felt such Love just radiating out in every direction! I even said more to this couple and I was so dazed, I more or less put my foot in my mouth. They in turn were so deep in their own world, and seemed to take no heed to my um duh remark. Yup, I’m kind of known especially when I am nervous (which I was) to say silly things. My tongue trips all over itself. Hehehehe And my brain seems to take a vacation. LOL I’m laughing as I write this. I hope you had a good day!!! I was out in my park again today. Well I don’t want to gripe. Yes I do! A lot of photographers prefer dreary days because the even light is desireable, and it disposes of all the hard shadows for a cleaner looking result. She has horse teeth, but the flowers are nice! LOL! He just looks plain horny! I enjoyed ALL of the pictures! LOVE you got some more exercise! The picture of that girl in the red hoodie… Lots of sunshine there! Great job Amy! I’m still laughing about how you looked when you returned to the car, in the last set…

An overcast day is vastly different from a dismal gray with clouds on the surface day. I like overcast days to photograph in. But not in heavy cloud days. I’ve been seeking after light lately and shadow to give my images more depth so that is my latest adventure. When I saw this couple all I felt and saw was LOVE and nothing else. I’m glad you enjoyed my images and got a kick out of my selfie. No matter how gloomy, I am determined to find sunshine as this post proves. Have a great day, Darrell!!! Love, Amy ❤

To achieve depth, lower the contrast level of the picture. Then use a ‘curves’ adjustment layer, make an ‘S’ curve. Them flatten the image and save as jpg.

Yes, this young couple I will NEVER forget. I don’t think I have seen or felt such a huge Love as I did that day! The adoration on that young man’s face, the huge smile that never left that young woman’s face, were truly the last things on this earth I thought I would ever see in that park, especially on such a heavy, dark and very cool day. They give me HOPE that marriage is not a sham. They give me HOPE that LOVE truly is alive in this world. I pray that young man remembers my words when the tough times come, for alas, they will. Those are the times either the marriage survives or dies, and I really really HOPE that this couple fight for their Love. I wish one of my photos of her full gown came out good. Honestly, she just looked like a fairy Princess and he Prince Charming. I’m tearing up as I write these words. I’ve have been in a really challenging phase of Life and every time it gets tough, I just close my eyes and picture these two and I again feel that Bliss. I wish I knew how to contact them because they just don’t know what a Gift they have given to me.
May your day be a good one, my friend. I am scrubbing and cleaning, taking a break right now so I can continue answering my comments. Then I have to edit some pics and put a post together for tomorrow. Good luck to me, I say! At least the morrow’s post is a short one. Oh Amy… of course, Sometimes my fingers just have a life on their own, and on the lap top my pointer just got over the following button… I pressed what I thought was your post comment button but my mouse was on the follow, so it unfollowed you 😦 .
I’ve been absent for a while.. had to take time out.. and so stopped logging in everyday and spending hours in other peoples blogs… I shall post my experience soon.. Sending you special Love xxx

Took me longer than 9 minutes, had to stop along the way and reminisce. I could hear the water running in the stream. Living in Mexico has its joy, especially with a rose garden blooming around a poinsettia tree, but a walk in the woods on a gray day is in itself a joyful memory. Feliz Navidad y un Feliz Año Nuevo

Call me, please? At your own pace. Love this post, as well as the ones with closed comments. Wonder what has happened to this sweet couple? So young and so beautiful!
You forever impress me with your walks and now that hill! But you conquered it, just as you continue to conquer everything that tried to throw roadblocks in your way. You are my all time heroine, Sweet Amy. Love ❤ , Love ❤ , Love you ❤
