The Good Fight

    1. She has now been pruned back as have all my other Rose bushes that were still wanting to bloom. Now my gardens are safely all tucked in for the coming Winter. I agree with you, Neihtn. She did still look good, yet you could see the evidence of what the frost did to Her. I really had a bit of a tear in my eye saying goodbye. Have a good weekend. Love, Amy ❤

    1. Happy Thanksgiving, Andy!!! She is a beautiful Rose, yet with all of Life, her cycle to show her colors has come to an end as She gently slumbers getting ready for Spring. 🙂 Have a great weekend!!! Love, Amy ❤

    1. I know She will be back, John. That’s the comforting thing. She is one of my stronger Roses in my garden. Yes the Seasons do come and those who are smart will adjust, and just FLow with them. 🙂 I am all prepared for the cold weather and I say now, “Bring it on!” I was able this year to get the outer gear needed, so I consider mysefl Blessed to have the means to have done so!!! Love, Amy ❤

    1. Thank you, Eliza. She rests now, falling asleep until next Spring when Mother nudges her gently awake. As with all of Life, seasons come and seasons go. Have a great weekend, my friend. Love, Amy ❤

  1. That’s pretty much any of us can do – put up the best fight we can.

Like you, I’m staying in this weekend – no need to negotiate the traffic around our various malls. Today, we’re hosting our second Thanksgiving dinner for my daughter and her husband who couldn’t join the rest of us yesterday. A lot of work, but totally worth it – and thankfully, they’re wiling to help us eat up some of the leftovers from yesterday’s big meal. This was the first in many years that I felt comfortable having people come to my house, now that it’s presentable again.

    1. I am just so thrilled for you that you are celebrating Thanksgiving again today!! How glorious! And about your house remark …. *giggling* … my inlaws refuse to come over to ours due to our cats. They associate cats with a filthy house, and yes they even have come right out and said so. This could not be the furthest thing from the truth. Sure we have kitty pans in the back hall … that cannot be helped, but I scoop them out and they are as clean as they will be. If you stick your nose down close, sure you will smell “cat” because I do not scrub these pans out every day. Geesh! And yes, on my!, there is hair! Imagine that! 😉 Now, the second floor is another story with the rug. My boys have done the naughty on that rug so yes there is a certain aroma, not bad, but definitely cat. I scrub that rug with a shampooer every week to keep it as clean as possible. I wouldn’t want anyone to go upstairs but the first floor, that is another story. Anyways …
Not sure why your house wasn’t presentable but happy for you that you now feel comfortable having peeps over. I’m really happy you had a good Thanksgiving … so did we! 🙂 Have a great weekend. Yup, staying home … I even canceled a massage appt. for tomorrow due to the fact the place I was going is in Walden Galleria Mall. NO WAY!!! LOL The horror on my face just thinking about it …. LOL ❤

      1. Prior to our renovations, we had holes in the walls due to water damage and subsequent ice storm damage, with the resulting mold in certain areas. It’s all been fixed now, and completely repainted by a professional painter – it looks like a totally new house.

    1. So sorry, Charlie, to hear about the sadness you feel. I did too, believe me, especially when I pruned back the bushes that were left for me to do. Don’t worry though, Spring will be here before you know it. (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

    1. That sounds like a plan, Raewyn, because I am already missing my beautiful flowers. I am so glad I know people like you who live on the other side of the world!! 🙂 ❤

  2. The shrivelrd up old bag! LOL! Why is it that when women get old, they’re shriveled up old bags, but when men get old, they’re more sophistacated? I’ll never understand that… So, they’re getting you to take pictures of dead flowers eh? Don’t worry! I’m sure she’s had unsafe sex with at least one bee in her life… He DNA lives on…

    1. Seeing that I am of the fair sex, it doesn’t seem fair that we get the “old bag” coin and you guys get the “sophisticated”. Not fair, she yells!
No one is getting me to do anything. I freely photographed a flower that fought valiantly to stay alive and for that, She gets a great post by me to applaud her efforts. Thank goodness for those bees … they are our Life saver!!! Darrell, you rock!! ❤

  3. Still a beautiful rose till near the end and agree she did put up a good fight. Had a nice Thanksgiving in our new home. Just the 2 of us, also. I know you keep a clean house and that’s nuts that they wouldn’t come because of cats. Love you bunches ❤

    1. Agree with you, Kathy, how beautiful this Rose is. I had the best Thanksgiving I have had in years. How you know I keep a clean house is beyond me, but I really do thank you. These people are better off not being here for they would judge and pretend to be nice but later when gone, would stab us in the back with their words. I don’t want them here. They have no idea what they are missing because they don’t get where we are coming from. Love is sadly lacking in their lives, so hence we who dare to be our True Selves and show Love and have a houseful of Loving cats …. well, they fear us. No loss on our part, my friend. Believe me. I am free of their small mindedness and free to live Life without their interfering littleness. Yes it hurts at times, I must admit, but for real, I honestly don’t want these people in my Life. And neither does my hubby. 🙂 Bless you for being so kind to me. And yes my house is clean. LOL ❤ (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

      1. We did too, Amy. We must be twins since I have had in the past family issues and feel so much freer of all that emotional baggage. I too don’t need all that negativity in my life, As far as your house being clean, just a sense I got. HUGS ❤

    1. I don’t see it as death, Marissa. I see it as the Cycle of Life and how gracious this Rose was to gently accept her “fate”. We all could learn from Her. Yes there is a physical death upon this earth, yet our spirits live on for all Eternity. How exciting to even think that!!! 🙂 (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

  4. I’ve been out of touch for so long Amy, I have almost forgotten how to act when I see your beautiful roses. I love her color, even in dying, she is lovely. And just like the butterfly, she will return with the Spring, shedding her love and warmth again, and giving you more opportunities to photograph her in all her glory — an art you do so well.

I hope you had a good Thanksgiving Amy, and you can now look forward to a jolly, merry Christmas ahead. Must get back to my gift making now. Love and HUGS from Kentucky. A.

  5. And yet she perishes with much of her glory in tact! No matter when or what, I find hope in the garden. Maybe it’s just knowing that such as this will rise again and that spring can’t not be stopped in its return. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

    1. God bless you, my friend! My Roses in actual 3D glow. I’ve even been able to catch that glow with my camera. I have 100’s more of pictures still not edited for the winter to show here, so I look forward to the treasures I KNOW I will find. My Roses are truly touched by the Power and Grace of Mother, the “female” aspect of God. Since we were made in God’s image, it only stands to reason if a male and female were created of all of Nature, that theh Energy of Nature Herself would be female as well. (smile) At least that is how I see things. (((HUGS))) Amy ❤
