Surprisingly,
adversity brings out
aspects in us
we never even knew
existed.

This shot was without doubt in every way, a lucky one. Earlier that day I was driving and as I did, I made note of places I wished to return later towards twilight to get some shots of. That entire day I carefully watched the sun and to my disappointment, clouds began to gather as twilight deepened. Nonetheless, I gathered my gear and headed out the door as the sun began to set.
Finishing with one area I wanted to photograph, I was headed towards my final destination when I saw this vista from out of the passenger car window as I was driving. Being on a busy road, I hesitated to stop. Not able to resist I made sure no one was behind me and as quickly as I could came to a stop on the shoulder of the road.
Running to get my equipment, and with trembling hands knowing my time was fast running out, I managed to get off a few frames from a few different angles. This one blew me away, for in it, the sun behind the trees (far tree line right) burst through the cloud cover and as a result, sporadic shafts of light lit up the leaves and weeds as if by magic. Yes, I enhanced the colors to really make them pop, and because it was really dark, I spent much time to get the lighting balanced.
ENJOY!!!!

I do too, Irene. To my eye, there is a huge difference between my Canon and small mirrorless Samsung. I’m thrilled I shot this with my Canon, for she did not disappoint. (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

Beautiful colors. Just wondering if the original photo displayed the magical lighting of the far tree line as a different colored glow. Thoughtful words and so true.

I am watching all your pictures and posts, and enjoy them. Some of the posts do not give the balance and peace but that is the life. All of us experience good and bad events. What can we do?
Anyway, your blog mostly is optimistic and pictures are beautiful.

I love the way you captured the darkness and light on this one. It’s just seeped in color…that’s kind of the only way I can describe it. Glad you stayed safe in your adventure. It was certainly worth it. Funny how the photographer’s mind works…always seeking that perfect shot.

Marissa, it is hard to explain … my eye just sees things. I don’t even consciously look (or at least most of the time). Things just pull my eyes and I must must must take a shot or two. SO glad you enjoyed this one. I’ve still got a ways to go in the editing room but you all are seeing me progress. Hope you had a good day!! Love, Amy ❤

Yes, you are progressing, and it’s so funny to think of it that way, but you are pretty consistent in outdoing yourself every time.

Wow, thank YOU, Marissa!!! I am seriously amazed how fast I learn and what I apply. Now I know why I spent years drawing free hand these huge abstract paintings. They developed my “artist eye” to really see. Isn’t this journey exciting? It is for me!!! Love, Amy ❤

Oh no, I can see that now. Please know I would never do that intentionally and was even thinking of substituting a husband-wife situation but this one seemed to work out better. Anyway, so much for my sick sense of humor and sincere wishes that your mother will recover.

Lovely words as usual, Amy. And wow, what a photo. I literally felt like I was right beside you as you hustled to take a few shots. Sunsets can be so beautiful but yet so fleeting. One second the sky can be full of colour and the next the opposite. You did very well there. I thought this photo looked like a magical park of some sort 🙂 ❤
