Well, certainly a steady and gorgeous image. I love the moon. Did you enhance the red ring around it? I’m trying to remember what a red ring around the moon means. Heat? Rain? Will have to google…
I did not put the red ring around the Moon, Marissa. When I was editing this, enhancing yes, I saw this red ring and all the amazing spheres radiating out from the Moon. I really did get lucky because I have forgotten how best to capture the Moon. I had no time to pull out my book to refresh my memory nor did I have time to set up at all. As it is I lucked out that I had time to change lenses and even with that I almost didn’t make it. What a dash I made at a time of the day I was ready to just chill. Labor of Love. 🙂 ❤
This morning I was so busy but now have time to look it up. So:
The ring around the Moon is caused by the refraction of Moonlight (which of course is reflected sunlight) from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.
I took that directly from a web site which went on to say that folklore has it that the if there’s a red ring around the moon it means bad weather is coming. Did you have bad weather the next day?
A lovely image anyway, and, look at that, you inspired me to learn something!!
We had lovely weather here today, my friend, but … I became angry regarding certain things that were done/said in the field of medicine by a few people today. I was manipulated and lied to, for starters, and I came home blowing my top. Just know that “seeing red” came true for me today as i saw how vicious and nasty medicine can be.
Oh gosh, sorry for that. Sometimes you have to just try not to let things get to you which is a lesson I really need to learn myself, ha, ha! Maybe we can work on it together!
Marissa, it’s just that I care so darn much and when I witness people in this world, or systems in this world, that are corrupt at our expense or my animals’ expense, yes my emotions boil. I’ve gotten better at not getting upset because it is just so draining. I’ll hold your hand and you can hold mine and we will continue to learn not to blow our tops. 🙂 ❤ OK? ❤
I know, Irene, WOW is right!!! I totally got lucky, believe me! I am so happy you viewed this magnificent image Mother gave to me to share with you. (((HUGS))) Amy ❤
I don’t think I will see it tonight, Irene. It’s beginnng to get really hazy outside. You never know though. I may try to capture the Moon the “right way” tonight. LOL Hehehehehe
Absolutely stunning. I’ve been hoping to get a good shot of the moon, but haven’t succeeded yet. Maybe now that the days are shorter, I’ll have my chance.
Grabbing my camera was the last thing I wanted to do yet when I SAW what was in the sky I RAN to get it. I had the wrong lens on my body, then the lens I wanted had the wrong filter which I had to change. Meanwhile I was all fumble fingers, panting, muttering, trying to get out there to capture what I saw. Running again to get outside I saw things had changed and without any idea what I was really doing, I started clicking. I have forgotten how best to capture the Moon because it has been so long since I have done it. I really did get lucky with this one. Really. ❤
Ritva I agree and I am SO relieved I actually was able to capture this. I totally lucked out. I really mean that. I forgot how best to photograph the Moon and I had zero time to get my book out to refresh my memory. Sometimes spontaneity works out. 🙂 Incredible image and I am so happy you viewed it. Have a great day!!! Love, Amy ❤
I am not sl´killed at moon shots, but I do them anyways. We has Aurora borealis at weekend, but unfortunately my skills are not good enought to capture it as is was not all that clear, but that moon was!
I have a book, Ritva, that helps me tremendously with tricky shots like the Moon. All I can say is practice and learn how to shoot shots that are not easy to capture. (((HUGS))) Amy ❤
Mother has been allowing me to see the Magic most people do not see, but this, this takes the cake. When I began to edit this image and really SEE what I captured, I was entranced, I was in AWE, and I felt SO humbled that I am being given the privilege and honor to enter into a World that again most people are not able to enter. Lady Luck was with me as well, Jade, for I truly forgot how best to photograph the Moon. I just prayed I hit the right settings. With this one, I did … and then some!!!! (((HUGS))) Amy ❤
So imaginative and I like that. I always imagine so much that I have to spare some time to write novel. Thanks for bringing imagination through the photo. You have done well ! ❤
Oh Amy,just love it. I looked out the window last night and saw how beautiful the moon was. I love my camera but knew I didn’t have enough zoom to capture it so enjoyed it, instead. Then to see this post with the moon made my day. Great Job my friend ❤
SO happy this made your day, Kathy. If it were not for hubs who got my attention as I am grumbling “But I don’t want to photograph the Moon … I’m so wiped!” …. I would not have gotten this. Magic, pure magic! Wow! Love, Amy ❤
Very lucky indeed! IF hubby had not said anything I would have missed this shot!!! Thank goodness for hubby who spurred me on when I was so weary!! Love, Amy ❤
Elisa, Bless you for your awesome comment! I am SO overjoyed you viewed this Moon and obtained pleasure as a result. It’s a good thing I rushed and ran last night for in looking at the Moon tonight, no clouds last night BUT the Moon is a very dark yellow. We’re talking deep yellow! Talk about colors in the sky! Wow!!! (((HUGS))) Amy ❤
Aw, thanks, Julie!!! Hubs gets the credit for this image even though I took it. Hehehehehe He is the one who noticed the Moon and got me running when all I wanted was my bed. LOL SO glad you enjoyed!!! Love, Amy ❤
Life does advantage those with a little bit of experience…I love how you took the pieces that you had available and you produced something truly beautiful.
Charlie, I really did get lucky. I had NO clue what I was doing. I just flew on HOPE. I completely forgot how best to take shots of the Moon because it was so long ago that I did. Now I will pull that book out of mine to read how to capture the Moon. 🙂 I have the Harvest Moon to look forward to!!! Love, Amy ❤
Aw, shucks, YellowCable!! Thank you! I actually used my porch railing as a support to help me get into no shake zone. Still very challenging since I was using a 300mm lens. I really got lucky!! Seriously! Now IF I tried to get that affect, I probably could not. LOL (((HUGS))) Amy ❤
Delightful shot dear Amy.. and a beautiful Golden opportunity never to be missed .. We had a wonderful halo around our Full moon…. but with my little camera even though the moon seems large in the sky its always just a dot lol when I take it.. 🙂
Gorgeous, simply beautiful.
