Hubby’s Eye View (7 IMAGES)

Now I come to the part of my Niagara Falls Journey as seen through hubby’s eyes.  This post is the second to last in this series of the images taken at Niagara Falls.  As I post each photo, I weave a tale, perhaps a poem as well.  Since hubby is being um stubborn, shall I say?, about learning how to edit images, I edited each photo below, and I took credit so that my name is on each photograph.  That shall be as it is until hubby decides to step into the world of digital photography.

Now I continue with the rest of my story …

As I have stated in some of my previous posts and numerous comments, this trip was not very fun, but in fact truly stressful for me.  I just wanted everything to be perfect, yet, not much was.  As you can clearly see in this first photo, the stress and the tension are plain to see on my face.  Gee, thank you, hubby, for snapping when I was in the middle of attempting to put a smile on my face.  That was just so kind of you.   Now my friends can see my face all contorted instead of a smile as I had on my face after you snapped this …

Lines of real tension are all over my face and in an attempt to get me to smile hubby said, “Honey, that camera is almost as big as you are.” It sure doesn’t look that way as I stand so bundled up I felt as if I could barely move. Nevertheless, that camera when seen with me with just one layer of clothes on (smile) really does look almost bigger then I am. I had three layers on underneath my down overalls, and four layers on under my down jacket. Glasses on my face, as usual, are askew and the face mask, as usual, down around my neck.  What I actually look like matters very little to me when I have a camera in my hand.  (smile)

As I turned around to get a “feel” of where to start shooting with camera in hand, very overwhelmed, and my tripod in its purple case around my neck, hubby snapped this …

Check the amount of snow and ice that has built up on that cast iron railing!  Wow!  It was so hard that even my spikes on my tripod would not go through.

When I finally chose where I was going to shoot, I set my tripod up and went to work.  I was so focused on shooting, I don’t even remember hubby taking this photo below.  In the background to the right of me, is the beautiful Visitors Center.  Now you all can see my “baby tripod” and again the conditions I shot in.  Brrrrrrr …

Also, as seen here, my camera hood is off.  I was shooting with the ND400 filter in this photograph and due to its darkness, I needed every bit of light I could get in order to see!  Yep, you bet, my sensor did pick up dirt and still as of this writing, needs cleaning.

When you keep your eyes on your goal
regardless of how the odds are stacked against you …
and above all, resist NOT to quit …
what comes about is a True Miracle,
something created magnificent indeed
all because you refused to give up!

The following photograph is a panoramic view of the American Falls.  Please keep this one in mind with the post that is going to follow this one.  In fact, I just may post this photograph again in the FINALE post of my Niagara Falls Series, just for your convenience.  Yes, the more I think about it, that is exactly what I will do.  Now, here is hubby’s photo of the American Falls.

In my opinion, hubby’s photograph of all of them presented thus far, gives the best interpretation of just how huge this place really is.  The immense space of it all, is jaw dropping!  Keep in mind, this image above is ONLY a shot of the American Falls and not inclusive of the Horseshoe Falls, which as you are looking at this image, would be to your right.

The three last photographs below I know you have seen previously with me, but I again am showing you because hubby did not wait for the mist to clear as I did. Now you have a more realistic view of how heavy the mist truly was, and how I had to wait for it to clear in order to get the shots I did get.  Now for hubby’s shots of the Horseshoe Falls with heavy mist:

This last image below was shot in black and white, with zero tone filters. When I was editing this image in LR using the clarity option, to my astonishment, I began to see the red pigment I have been telling you about, I tell you true!, in the mist, the part that looks like an inverted rainbow.  Impossible?  That is what I said!  But I saw it, I really did, and because this image was shot in black and white, I actually used the black and white option to make sure the entire image stayed true to black and white.  This ought to tell you, as it did me, how saturated the air is with red pigment.  Honestly, I could not believe my eyes when again, and this time on a B&W photo, that red pigment was seen.  How incredible is that?

I miss you all, I really do! Yet to be able to focus with so much concentration in the “darkroom”, I had to do things the way I did so you would see images of Niagara Falls as viewed by both myself and my hubby.
