  1. I need a yoga class. My last yoga class was given by the Army five days a week. I taught the physical training. We did a lot of the yoga to free the body from the possibilities of damages and keeping the body flexible.

    1. John, Yoga is just about the best thing that has happened to both myself and hubby in a long time. I cannot say enough GOOD about it. I hope you find a class! Yoga in my opinion, not only repairs the body, but it also helps the body ward off dis-ease. I found ours in our local gym. Good luck! Love, Amy

  2. You are not being selfish for wanting you time.

“Let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”

    ― Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

I enjoyed attending the Yoga lessons. You two have fun storming the castle. 😀

    1. I really enjoyed this, Susie. Thank you. I really do need space from hubby, and lately both photography and Yoga which were just me time, have become “our” time. Today I awoke asking now what I must find in order to maintain “me” time, because that is SO important to me. Too much togetherness is not healthy, IMO. Bless you for saying I am not selfish. 3. How awesome for hubby!! I admit I did giggle a bit but how wonderful really. Also, these pictures can serve to help improve because you can really see where you need to extend stretches (not just for hubby but for all participants!!) Can’t believe these were taken in the dark!!

    1. This post was meant to make you laugh, Marissa, yet with a message as well. Yes, these pics were taken in the dark, hence the blurring that is evident. I too could not believe the images when I viewed them. NO flash was used. I tried to be as stealthy as possible, not wanting to disturb anyone around me. So glad yo enjoyed this!!! Have a great day, my friend. Love, Amy

      1. No flash you say??! That’s interesting. Did you write that in the post? May have skimmed over that, but even an amateur photographer like myself knows that using a flash in complete darkness usually doesn’t bring about the best results although the alternative is complete darkness.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I THINK I mentioned it maybe in the second paragraph? I barely ever use a flash, just not liking how a flash bleaches out an image. Knowing how people really get into the poses and into NOW, a flash could have done some serious harm in their concentration. Nope. No flash. 😀

  4. Yay, you hubby did it!! How impressive. Though they use the same kind of cell and wallet, but my husband won’t do it; he walks, etc. You’re right, yoga is not easy, not at all. I normally do 30 min. yoga in the early morning. It helps increase the flexibility of my body, and the breathing is great. 🙂 Love this post. I can’t believe it was a dark room, well done, Amy!

    1. Thank you, Amy! Yes it really was a dark room, and I in all honesty have trouble believing these pics don’t even look like it was. I’m really proud of hubby, Ame. Now I have to find something else that is ME time, away from home and hubby. Hubby also has to learn to BREATHE instead of groaning outloud. Hehehehehehe Too funny. (((HUGS))) Amy

    2. Sorry, Amy, but this morning I missed the part about YOU doing Yoga. I am just SO proud of you for doing it. I think it is harder to do at home then it is to do in a class. Stay on track, and BREATHE. (smile) Love Amy

  5. LOL! I have to admit your post brought a huge smile to my face. Good for you and your husband! That’s so great! LOL…does he mind his back end being displayed for the world? hehehe Great shots too. I’m so proud of you.

    1. LOL Laura, I actually showed hubby this post before publishing just to make sure it was OK by him to do so. He did not mind. If he can encourage others to do what he is, um his back end, no prob, to view. Hehehehehehe At least he is off of that back end and doing!

This “assignment” was tricky due to the lighting. I really did not know if my shots would come out. Sliding across the floor, being as quiet as I could …. trying not to get faces in shots …. I give YOU the credit for this post, Laura. You encouraged me to do it. Thank YOU!!! Love, Amy

  6. You really did that to your loved one,?damn your mean!
I just went to yoga once and it was because of a girl, she forced me to go. Actually liked looking around the other girls but come on, that was torture, the poses I mean, I almost broke in half my body hurting like hell. It might be called yoga but it is really a form of torture that woman have created and subtle planted a seed on the men´s head that is good for them when is really not, you are subliminally torturing us………I feel for you Hubby, my man and not only for the nickname they have put you. I´m sure you`re really a tough Frederick.

    1. Actually, Charlie, hubby viewed this post and he OK’ed it. Really. He LOVES Yoga and even though it hurts he is seeing the benefit of it already. Quoting a man who also does Yoga in our class, “You women are scary!” LOL Men are not as flexible as women, no. But, with time, hubby will become more flexible and feel better. He is already saying his back no longer hurts, and he also is walking tall again instead of stooped over from sitting so much. Yep, torture it may be to some, but the benefits outweigh the torture!!! LOL My hubby is trying desperately to quit smoking, and here again, Yoga has helped him cut down. So, Charlie, as you can see, even though this post was done in fun, there are real health benefits to Yoga. I have been at it for years and hubby now who has just started, is already feeling better. I would not be healthy in the ways I am today if I did not do Yoga. I know. I stopped doing it for a while. And the results were not good. (((HUGS))) Amy

      1. I know it has good health benefits, and I actually though about taking some classes here. Have already found two places but i find myself dumb doing or better said trying to do those poses. For my back would be great since my back looks like this ?, yep a question mark, so all the weight is displaced on my lower part of the back, even standing for too long my back get´s tired. So that´s primarely thought about yoga, or better said a love one pushed me to the idea. What I didn´t think was it could cut smoking, so that´s interesting since i do smoke too much.

      2. Charlie, truth …. If you saw my MRI’s for my back, you would not understand how I am walking. Yoga + good nutrition + proper rest are really making all the difference in the world. I refuse to go down, I refuse more surgery as well. LONG story but I was not walking for almost 2 years due to 2 back surgeries gone bad after a severe back injury. From there, getting out of bed and to begin the very painful journey of coming back to health …. took over 21 years doing it, and I still am. Truth as well … I have questioned at times if Yoga is actually hurting my back more due to the “pain” I sometimes experience. I wait it out, going back when the pain settles down, and continue. I haven’t regretted it. Hubby is now considering e-cigarettes as another means to quit smoking. He has tried everything, and I mean everything else, and still cannot quit. I wish you all the best because I know how hard it is to quit … I am an ex-smoker. As for those poses, ease into them. Go slow. Don’t force. Use your breath when you go into the poses. Even if you think you look dumb, who cares? Hubby doesn’t. I admire him for what he is doing, and I am proud of him too. Hope this encourages you to take better care of you. (((HUGS))) Amy

      5. I just returned today from the hospital, they took the cast off after 1 month and now 3 more weeks of not being able to walk on the right foot, but of exercises. Very very slow, I can barely touch the ground without the damn foot throwing lightning up my leg. Plus the ankle just wont move, i have to slowly start moving it up and down so hopefully I can walk normally. So they told me to stick the foot in hot water and do the up and down movement of the ankle 8 times and then in cold water the same times. Plus is swollen as hell, and during those 3 weeks they say not to walk on the ankle, of course I can´t ! So hopefully little by little I´ll start to regain some movement on it. Quite a pain in the butt, so it´s going to be longer than what I thought, I thought they would take the cast off and off I went happy Charly jumping up and down….seems is not going to be that way. And go figure if I´ll be able to walk normally again. I think so but who knows. Let´s wait and see the progress. One more thing to add to my screwed up body and scars.

      6. Charly, I’ve seen some pretty amazing things regarding healing and the body. So, with that in mind, INTEND you will be able to one day walk as good as before the break, or at least, as near as possible. Yes, do go slow and water therapy is the best way to go. Epson salts in the water will help tremendously with the soreness. While your foot and ankle are soaking, move it slowly, ever so slowly just to the point you cannot take it. Never go past that point, not right now. Medicine does not have all the answers either, so if I were you, I would research on how best to help you. Everything you do counts, and that includes nutrition. Drink a ton of good water too, either spring or filtered. Patience is the key here, my friend. And perhaps as you are healing, you can think of ways to be more gentle with yourself so you don’t get hurt like this again. Remember slow and easy does it. Permanent change/healing takes time. I have every faith in you! I really do!! Love, Amy

      7. I know what it is like to be hurting, Charlie. Really. Another thing I thought of for you is lineament for sore and aching muscles that I think would bring you some relief. I know when my lower back hurts, I put lineament on it, and I do get relief. I use Aveda “Active Composition” which is a topical analgesic. It works. I know you can get it online. Or if you know of another brand to use and like, use that instead. You’re going to be OK. Nice and slow and easy does it. And a pinch of common sense too thrown in just for the heck of it! LOL (((HUGS))) Amy

I will take a look at that and see if there is something like that here in the country of the wild bulls or something related to it. Hugs back from the land of the wild bulls…with a wild charly added to it.

  7. I must say – that your husband is a brave man to allow himself be photographed in yoga class! I am laughing so hard right now. Please know I mean this from a respectful place – why I am laughing is the fact that I taught fitness classes for over 20 years – 8 years of those were Pilates classes. Never in a million years would any of my students allow themselves to be photographed and if a hidden camera infiltrated the studio they would have started WW3:)

    1. I am laughing out loud!!! Kimberly, I tried so hard NOT to get anyone’s face in clearly and I think I succeeded except for one image. I did get the instructor’s permission, much to my surprise. I know how to be exceedingly quiet and move in such a way I do not disturb anyone. I don’t think anyone even knew I was taking pictures except for those behind me. LOL So you KNOW how hard some of these poses are …. and the abs track …. that is Pilates, FYI. This is a combo class of TaiChi, Yoga, and Pilates. LOVE IT!!! So glad you laughed. (((HUGS))) Amy

  8. I think that it’s great that your hubby started yoga. Craig and I have talked about starting yoga or tai-chi to gain more flexibility. He is more flexible then me with my bad lower back. Great pics showing the various poses. After we move will find a class. You have motivated me!! I agree with you about finding “Me” time. We always find it healthy to have things that we do separately. {{{HUGS}}}

    1. Oh, Kathy!!!! Really? You are seriously considering this now? I have a back that if you saw my MRI’s, you wouldn’t understand how I walk. Honest. Yoga is saving my Life. This class is a combo of TaiChi, Yoga, and Pilates. We both LOVE it. And when I find my new ME time, I will let you know. Grrrr …. Hubby is in my TWO, photography and Yoga. Now I must find another outlet. OK, door, OPEN!!! LOL (((HUGS))) Amy

  9. Good for you guys… and especially hubby for being so courageous!
I am a huge fan of yoga (of course since I am a teacher!)
Looks like he did great for a first timer 🙂
I really want to emphasize that not all yoga is the same or even healthy for every body type and age. There are many types of yoga out there now, as well as different levels of teachers.
I would encourage people to shop around and find the teacher who they feel connected to. One who takes time to understand their needs and creates a safe space for all levels of experience.
I hope you don’t mind my sharing a link on my blog about yoga and its benefits:

p.s. I’m outside of Philadelphia if anyone is looking to join a class 😉

    1. I know about Yoga and I deemed this class safe for hubby and myself. I am very careful, Val. Yoga is basically saving my Life in more ways then one. I did say in my post IF Yoga is not your cup of tea to find out what is. Seeing this really wasn’t a “teaching” post, I really didn’t go into all the pros and cons of which Yoga for which body. I am really proud of you for teaching Yoga, Val. Good for you!!! Some in our class have mentioned to me I should be an instructor due to my form. I hesitate. Due to a back injury some poses I am not able to do …. back bend for one, lotus even half lotus another. I saw hubby one time ready to do the back bend, and I in a loud whisper actually said NO! Back bends were a piece of cake when we were young. Not so when age sets in. (((HUGS))) Amy

I’ve cut down since my Dad’s death, just unable to do blogging. So on the days I can, I do. Where this is leading, I don’t know. I am just following my Heart. 🙂 Love, Amy

    1. Hehehehehehe I really did it. And with hubs’ permission. What a good sport! LOL Life is as simple as you make it, Tiny. Example …. One of my brothers sent me a video on diffraction (or something like that) regarding how when you increase your F-stops, you don’t get a really clear image and why. Anywho, my eyes crossed. I couldn’t bear to hurt his feelings, so I wrote back saying gee, I never quite looked at this in this way. Thank you, Bro. Done. Simple. And then I keep taking pics like I do without a thought to diffraction. Tee hee ……. LOL

  10. Yoga is my cup tea, usually four classes a week. It brings peace, meditation time, chakra clearing, exercise, spinal alignment and socializing. I know what you mean about not wanting to share your sacred space!!! Please tell your husband I think that he should feel a great sense of self as he blazes new trails and takes risks….batting his eye lashes along the way apparently. Perhaps a good nap will help out those tired lashes!!! Hugs and love sweet Amy – Lisa.

    1. We do 2 classes a week, Lisa, slowly working up to 3. As it is, the after effect of some of these classes leaves this body aching. LOL I really HOPE hubby realizes how lucky he is that I said OK to my personal space. Now I need to find another one, and fast. I’ve begun by tinkering in Tangled FX, but I want something tangible in Life itself where it is just mine. A good nap …. now I know how to do that! Hehehehehe So glad you enjoyed this!!!
