Freedom From Fear

This post is dedicated to my brother, Will, who courageously left a job he did not like to take another job, something he normally would not do. Congratulations on the new job, Will, and good for you for following your Heart!

When one steps out of the shackles of fear
the discovery of buried Treasure
within that one’s BEing,
can now be claimed by that one
who courageously said NO to fear.

  1. Thank you for sharing the courage your brother demonstrated. Its a reminder I needed today and I identify with facing fears. I left a job to pursue something more creative…painting. Everyday I get to practice faith and trust. Not easy!

    1. No, that is not easy, but I am SO proud of you for actually following through doing what you LOVE to do. More people need to take your example. This world does not teach you to do what you Love, but rather go for the money, regardless if you hate your job or not. You truly are courageous!!! You are in my Heart and prayers wishing you every success!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

    1. (((HUGS))), Kathy, and a BIG thank you!!! I am so darn proud of my brother because he really stepped out of his comfort zone to do this. And already he has a customer who liked him at his last job, who has followed him and will be purchasing a home through him. HIGH FIVE! Love, Amy

  2. Wow, good for him. It really is hard to step out of the security of one job and take a risk on another but when you think of how much work consumes your life, being happy at a job is really worth it. Best of luck! Love how you portrayed this with a delicately opening blossom. Nice use of light? Was that natural light of something you added in?

    1. It was a natural light, Marissa, that I did not even notice until I saw this beauty through my view finder. I do not use lights, nor a flash. I tend to pick up Light just by sensing it. And yes, about my brother, I really am so proud of him. He has a family to support, so this decision was huge. Bless you for your well wishes for him. Much Love to you, my friend. Love, Amy

      1. Oh, Marissa, you put tears in my eyes with your comment. My friend Amy has been after me to start submitting my work to photography magazines, but with that, I have no clue how to. *sigh* And then my Life is so full, where to I find the time? *another sigh* I promised her I would at least start doing some research as to how to submit and to where. Bless YOU for your encouragement of me! (((HUGS))) Amy

      2. Yes, I actually am having the same problems here. I do want to submit my work, but it’s difficult to find the time. However, it is pretty easy to find sites (magazines??) to submit to by looking on the internet, at least when it comes to writing. I’ve done a few but am also trying to work out some metrical issues I’ve been having before really hitting it all too hard.

      3. My concern is this … when and I am saying when this world begins to want my work, the business end of things will take time away from Petals. Marissa, I reach out to a lot of people through Petals in Love, in encouragement, in being a friend. It is just not about my work but most of what it is, is the actual LOVE WORK I do behind the scenes. I have to really think this over. I’m biting my lip as I write this. Yes, I would love for this world to recognize my work because for me, this would mean more people would be viewing what I believe is magic, and PURE LOVE as only Nature can manifest. I know too, my Heart will guide me. You are seriously good, Marissa, and I for one would LOVE to see your work succeed. Same with me. Yet, there are consequences, ones that I am not too sure I am willing to embrace quite yet. If it starts out slow, I think I can handle it. I believe I will just start out by doing research, getting info off the net, and bookmarking that to go through. I also have to admit, I am now comfortable doing what I do at Petals and the thought of stepping into the unknown, yep, even me, brings a bit of dread along with it. Someone I know likened my work to that of Georgia O’Keefe’s, which to me, is a super high compliment. That being said, again this has to be really thought out carefully. Family first for me, then Petals, then promoting my work. Wishing you all the best as you ponder as I do. (((HUGS))) Amy …. whew LONG comment!!! LOL

      4. Yes, absolutely, I know what you mean. For me, there is only a small window when I can work on writing, including appreciating other people’s writing, looking for inspiration, and now added to that, the possibility of seeking out sites to submit to, figuring and what to submit and making it all presentable. It’s definitely a sacrifice and one that has to be well worth it. But, like you seem to think, you have to decide what’s manageable and take it from there!

      5. I just don’t want the FUN taken out of what I do. That is another concern I have thinking about. I’ve heard stories that those who do want an artist’s work, will tell that artist how to shoot. Not this woman. NO way! Hehehehehe

    1. Thank you, Alexander. The last time I communicated with my brother, he expressed amazement how wonderful my WP family is as so many have reached out to him today in support. No, what he did was by far not easy, yet he did it and already he is succeeding. I am so darn proud of him!! Love, Amy

    1. No apologies necessary, Celia. Thank you for your kindness to my brother. We have been through so much lately with our Dad and for him to make a major move like this, is so not like him. But, he did it, pushing fear aside and already his life has improved. Thank you, friend. Love, Amy

    1. Holly, many out of fear do not open that door. It is safer to stay in the known, even if that place is not happy. Thank you for your well wishes for my brother. He is amazed by the support and Love he has received here today. (((HUGS))) Amy

    1. I told my brother he has LOTS of messages of good cheer for him here, so I hope when he has time he will read through them. He is an example to all of us, Neihtn, that even though the unknown “scares” us, when we do follow our Hearts, magic truly does happen. Will has his very first client on Friday who followed him from his old job. He works on commission, so this sale will mean a big celebration for he and his wife and two children. Thank you for allowing me to share with you, a part of my Life. Bless you, my friend!! Love, Amy

    1. Kimberly, sometimes it takes such a huge step of faith that we don’t think we can do it. Yet, it is the fear that holds us back, actually paralyzing us. When my husband and I over this past summer said NO to having one of our cat’s legs amputated due to extreme infection, we did NOT know at that time IF we had the know how to pull him through. This was truly a life and death situation, and knowing this, we did put everything we could into saving his leg and his life. This was THE biggest step of faith we took, and yes, it took huge amounts of around the clock treatments, meds, and natural remedies to pull off what we did. Sometimes we must take a CHANCE. It’s called believing in yourself. Dig down deep, my friend, take a deep breath, and make the change IF your Heart is telling you to do so. You will not regret it. Even IF it seems to be a mistake, that mistake can be coined a learning experience so that you can continue to TRY AGAIN. BIG (((HUGS))), my friend. Love, Amy

      1. well we have been there a fe wtimes and we know it is always worth it. And one time we heard a guy named Tony Compolo speak – nothing too great – but the way he started was awesome.
He asked people how long they have been alive?
then paused – then asked again –
and this time he said he was not referring to chronological age – or how many literal years we were alive – but how long have we been truly “living” – and he just did some “Henri David Thoreau” kinda reminding – about the value of being “freed from fear” – as your title noted here – and how that just means we take chances and risk the mess – in order to stay fully alive – because at the end of the day if we compromise too long, we lose an important part of our very self – and there is trade off I guess.

anyhow, thx for your nice reply too ❀ ❀

      2. Friend, I am in deep thought about beginning to promote my work by submitting it to photography sites and magazines. This I would LOVE to see happen and to succeed as well. Yet, this would mean changes to Petals and it is not the pretty work I am thinking about, it is all the reaching out behind the scenes that I do. Will that be affected as more of my time is taken up promoting my work? Is it the right time for me to start doing this? I’m not sure, and when I am not sure, I don’t do anything. I will however, begin to research on the net on where I could possibly submit my work to. And as I do, get a feel for what is out there, which honestly I don’t even know. My entire focus would have to shift. Am I up to that? Again, I don’t know. I do know what I am doing now I am fully awake, LOVING all that I do do in my Life. Is there another branch to my Tree waiting to be discovered? A step like this for me, needs contemplation. Petals did not happen that way. A friend said one encouraging sentence to me, and I ran with it. I’ve established deep relationships here, and I help so many people, Yvette. I wish I had a manager to do the footwork, to do the promotional work for me so that I could just keep on doing what I do at Petals. At least I am thinking about this change, and I am willing to do research. This will affect my Life in a huge way or perhaps not at all. I honestly don’t know. Yep, me brain is cookin’ right now. LOL (((HUGS))) Amy

  6. Good for your Bro, and all the best in the new occupation. As for your photograph, and the beautiful words which accompanied them, they were wonderful like always, with just a little more love seeping through because of the heart’s close connection to the source of familial pride in the subject of which your love was expressed. Have a great day, and a wonderful week-end soon to be upon us all. πŸ™‚
