      2. How awful that women don’t acknowledge when men are right. Truly. It matters not to me feminine, male … when someone is right, I say so. You are awesome as well and I am really glad we had this time together today. It meant a lot to me that you enjoyed yourself here today! I have a smile on my face right now. (((HUGS))) Amy

      1. I’m sorry Mom Bonzo! The humans are all worried about using too much data (until the 13th) so they’re grabbing the iPhone from me every time they can get their hot little paws on it!! *((POUT))* I grab it and run under the boxpring to do my post! *dang humans!* I’ll be back to hanging out in your garden again in no time!!

    1. Amanda, I am SO happy you had fun here at Petals! I did too, and yes you were right! LOL How about that! Thank you for your kind words about my work. I really do LOVE what I do and I know it shows. My JOY is in showing you what I can do. If I had no one to share my photography with, it just would not be the same. Have a great day, my friend. 1. I am so happy you enjoyed my little game. Yes, it is worth using my Canon even if that means a lot more work. I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I began to use it again, and then it seemed as if my soul sighed in relief. Have a great week as well!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

  3. Gorgeous winter scene pictures!

The main key that makes the picture of Samsung’s different than Canon is the size of the sensor. The Samsung’s sensor is much smaller than 50D. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_sensor_format – the Samsung’s sensor is size is 1/2.3″ vs APSC on 50d. The bigger sensor will have advantage in term of light collected as it has bigger surface than the smaller sensor. That means it generally have better noise and dynamic range. The larger sensor can potentially or tendency of shallow depth of field. It is hard to match them from these perspective. The same will be seen when comparing Canon’s 50D with 5D.

    1. I seem to be doing really good with my 50D, YellowCable. I have so many other responsibilities in Life that I have learned to use what I have. Yes, getting a larger sensor camera would be awesome, yet, I am not getting paid in any way for what I am doing, so investing in a 5D at this point, is not in the picture. I also do know that it is the person behind the camera that makes the photo what it is, and I think I have proven that more then once. It was really not easy to compare an image from my Samsung to my Canon, and when I first started editing, I didn’t know if I could come even close. I just did this all for fun, YellowCable, that’s all. It also felt really really good to use my Canon again, even though my Samsung is so much easier to use. The quality of image I get with my Canon is just not possible with my Samsung. Thank you for the link … I will read later this evening. I have noticed with my Samsung the trouble with noise and yes it is due to the small sensor. I do have a “dream” camera in mind, but like I stated, I am not about to go out and buy it. I am very happy with what I do have. Thank you for the thoughtful comment, YellowCable. I hope you had a good day! Love, Amy

      1. I am sorry if I was not clear. I did not mean to suggest you go out and get a bigger sensor camera at all. I simply wanted to point out the reasons why Samsung has less image quality (not to be confused by picture quality). That is all.

      2. No need to apologize, my friend. I find myself pretty tired at the moment, with going through all that I am with my dad being so Ln the hospital. My nerves are a little raw. I apologize to you if I came across as if you were saying I should buy another camera. With Love, Amy

  4. I love them all. It feels like I could reach out and stick my hand in the water, but the ice prevented me from trying. We have ice of our own at the moment with more expected this week. I don’t think I want to leave the building at all.

    1. Angie, it is bitter biting cold here. I do not want to go out either but I must in order to care for the animals that I do in the barn next door. I will make sure I am dressed very very warm!!! Stay warm, my friend. (((HUGS))) Amy

      1. Today has warmed up here, but tomorrow will be bitter again. I will have to go out at some point to get new glasses so I can see again, but keep putting it off, waiting for better weather. That may not come until May, so I’ll have to just bite the bullet, reserve the bus, and go before I lose the vision I still have. I’m crocheting a heavy blanket to put over my lap when I go out, and always wear layers on top, so I get by. You stay warm also. Love and hugs. Angie

  5. A ha !! I knew it!! I knew it!! (I’m just kidding! I didn’t know it…). Anyway, these pictures are so beautiful! Just stunning! I feel like I see things in these pictures and, by the way, trying to catch up on my iPhone so I’m sure it isn’t even doing them justice. Must examine more closely when I’m on my computer.

    1. LOL I was trying to catch up on some comments with my phone last night, using the microphone instead of typing. That is a ride in of itself!!! 1. I am trying to train the microphone. LOL With my Dad in hospital I have been communicating with family via text as how to do what etc … I’m an RN. So yes I am using the microphone and yes it does make mistakes but I am really really trying to teach it to remember how I speak. I can even use the microphone for comments from my phone. It’s really nice. (((HUGS))) Amy

  6. Well, I was wrong. I thought that the second photo looked like the light had been balanced programmatically. the upper one looked like it had more of a human choice involved. Of course, you told us that you worked on both, so I knew there was a danger with that line of thinking. They were both beautiful, as are all of these.

    1. Dan, ignore this replied that I just sent. I am working from my phone and that comment was for someone else. I am also using my microphone believe it or not. All I can say, my friend, is that you played, you gambled, and you lost. Sorry. Laughing… The bottom line is, you had fun, which I hope you did. Yes I did a lot of editing both photographs to make them look like they came from the same camera, so don’t beat yourself up. Deal? Thanks again for playing, dan. I am thrilled that you did. 7. I love this set of photos, Amy. I’m sure before long, we will be seeing such scenes around here. I like a little dusting like this to break up the seasons a bit, and remind us that everything changes with time. 🙂

      1. We had a surprise storm in March here that stayed on the ground for over a week due to the frigid temps. It is the first March snow of any substance I remember EVER in Virginia. Mother Nature has a mind and a will of her own. We just gotta roll with her whims. 🙂

      2. This is the first winter I am actually doing photography and let me tell you, between my outer clothes and all my equipment, this is something else. I laughed out loud today when I came home from a brief shoot as I looked at the pile of gear and outer clothes. Come to think of it, I should have taken a pic. Darn it! Now I think of it. LOL I will have to do my best to describe in words when I post the pics I took today regarding what I went through to get those pics. LOL Just wow! Love, Amy

    2. Is there any way you can get you new link connected to your gravatar? Even in the reader there is no place to comment or like, so I have to go to your site in order to do so. I don’t understand why it shouldn’t be smoother for you. (((HUGS))) Amy

      1. Hi Amy. I have been pulling my hair out trying to get things straight with my new format. The link to comment is under the title of my post as opposed to being at the bottom by my like buttons. The Orange Title Key is my ‘home’ key which will take you back to the beginning of my blog. From there you can stroll down through all of my posts. You can ‘like’ them without opening the post to comment if you want to. To comment on a particular post, click the title of that post, then say what you will, click the orange title button again, and you’re back to start. Sylvia left a comment yesterday trying to find a re-blog button, and to my dismay, I can no longer offer that option. However if you do want to share any of my posts, you can link to the article by clicking the title to open the article, from there, click on the web address on your search bar, then link to text within your post linking back to mine. I left Slyvia a link to download Jing (the screenshot program I use to nab the photos I use to create my drawings). You can google Jing and you’ll get all kinds of offers for free downloads. I downloaded my version form Tech Smith, which I will vouch for here. It is a cool program if you are interested in checking it out.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention, Amy. If you have any other questions please ask. I notice a lot of new followers are still signing up on my WordPress account — another problem I need to fix once I find the RIGHT answer tot that question. Uggg! For now, my ACTIVE blog address is http://orples.net/ as opposed to my WordPress address.

      2. I have the right address, but the changeover for you is not as it should be and I am really sorry for you. Hang in there. When I do see you in my reader, there is no reblog option, nor is there anywhere to like or comment. I must go right to your site, which I do. I really hope things start going smoother for you because I really do know when they are not, you really do pull your hair out. You are in my prayers so that things get straightened out. This is the perfect example why I am very hesitant to change from WP. I don’t need the headaches, believe me. (((HUGS))) Amy

      3. This format is set up a little different Amy. The comment option on this blog is now under the title, instead of by the like buttons. I didn’t realize there was no way to re-blog on a private site until yesterday when Sylvia mentioned it to me. Evidently the private sites offer other social share sites like Pinterest and Facebook, etc. If you want to do a ‘mock’ reblog, you can maybe mention the Orples and link back to my new site. http://orples.net. Sadly, I keep getting ‘new’ followers and they all seem to be signing up on my OLD blog. I am not sure why, and my youngest child who could probably answer my woes is up to his ears trying to keep up their online business (it must be nice.) LOL. One day, I hope to catch up with my kids relative to be able to solve all of these computer nightmares problems myself.

Thank you for letting me know you are still having problems. Hopefully one day I will get this whole thing straight, once and for all. In the meantime, I appreciate your hanging in there with me. Hugs back at you, Marcy. 🙂

  8. Your pictures are so beautiful. Taking pictures of beautiful/inspiring things each day is my passion. And looking at beautiful pictures others take inspires me, deeply. I don’t know anything much about photography and only use my phone’s camera but I still love it! 😀 Winter is beautiful and Winter themes like show, bare tree branches, gray barrenness are some of my favorite things to take pics of and look at pics of. Thank You for sharing your creativity and passion! ❤

    1. Yvette, I believe this is a tributary of Cazenovia Creek, yes. There are so many creeks and streams here locally that I think most of them are all connected to Cazenovia Creek. I didn’t realize there was so much water until I began exploring to find beauty. Am so glad you enjoyed the images. Have a great day, my friend! Love, Amy

      3. Thank you for understanding, Kathy. Editing those pics is something that will help me take my mind off my Dad. Hospice just today stepped in and he is now under their care. I don’t know if I will be able to get down to see him, Kath. SKYPE may be the only way to say goodbye to him. (((HUGS))) Amy

      4. That and cleaning. 🙂 Am waiting right now to hear if I can be connected via SKYPE to be included in the meeting with Hospice this morning. To not have been active in my Dad’s care has been really hard, especially with family knowing I am an RN. Now I am getting insistent … I want to be included in this part of Dad’s remaining time here …. (((HUGS))) Amy

      6. I’m really sorry, Kathy. Between how far apart families get (geologically) and emotionally, it is so sad when these things do happen. I know the hell I have gone through not able to step on a plane, even if I could. I left another comment. Meeting never happened. It was more important to get him out of that hospital so that they can finally medicate him the way he should be. (((HUGS))) Amy

Just as I thought of going out it begins to snow harder. DARN!!!! IF you have time, go to Petals and type in Glen Falls in the search box … that should bring up all my posts on Glen Falls … Yep, peeps LOVE my waterscapes. GRIN!!!
