[Photograph taken on October 21, 2014. All “new” photographs from “after” my loss, are taken with manual focus. Now it seems my AF on my Canon 50D is not working, so it looks to me as though the challenge has arrived for me to really learn how to take images with Manual Focus. I refuse to be defeated. I shall not only overcome, but come back better and stronger!]

Beautiful photo.. I’m needing to buy a camera as my last one, an Olympus point and shoot, purchased in 2000, really, was a film camera. Otherwise, I used my phone camera. You and another blog photographer have inspired me to get one that has a macro capability. I’m looking for something not to expensive, point and shoot, easy to carry. A friend loves her close to $100 Nikon cool pics but reviews on Amazon are from 1-5 stars. So then, via reviews I was led to other more expensive Niko and Canon’s, with again…people raving about them or dissing them with 1 star. So now I’m more confused than ever. 😦

Katelon, I am not the right person to recommend cameras. I know how confusing and overwhelming it is trying to figure out which one is the one you want. So many choices, so much conflicting information. Every time I get anything new that has to do with technology I feel so overwhelmed and I groan to think I again have to learn something new. My only advise is to take your time with your decision. Don’t make any rash decisions. Ask around. I’ve got Canon because that is what I started out with. There are pros and cons to everything, but the pros must outweigh the cons according to you. I wish you all the best! I really do. (((HUGS))) Amy

I’m not a techy either. In fact, I still don’t have a touch screen/smart phone and that switch is coming very soon, too, although I put it off because of the learning curve. I don’t have an i-pad, never had an i-pod, and even though a friend suggested that when I get a new laptop I switch to a mac, I’ll probably stick with a Pc because that’s what I know. Camera wise, I do want a good point and shoot that I can also take close up’s with and video, and don’t want to have to learn how to set things up manually, nor do a want something buliky. Thanks for the support 🙂

My photography is changing, Maverick. This “loss” is moving me into being more creative. You will understand when you see what I have begun to now photograph. There are also things I would not be photographing right now if the photo incident did not happen. There are many Lessons involved here. And so I learn. Love, Amy

No, Amy, I am far from defeated. I have been busy for the last two days taking pics. My style is changing and I am liking what I am seeing. I amaze me sometimes as how fast I learn. Amazing Amy. Hmmmm ….. That could be applied to you as well. LOL Love, Amy

You know what, Chun? I am learning that with manual you have more control over the image you are shooting. I like that. At first I was upset my AF broke. But again I stepped back and thought I am now gaining more ground with my photography with MF. I LIKE IT! And now I find you you shoot with MF too!!! Nice, Chun! You have inspired me today! Instead of losing speed, MF gives us great potential.
By that I manually set the camera, what is obtained is my sensibility.
Of course, it is possible to fail are also many.
But I, I am very happy when I can take a picture with the image that I think.
My dear Amy.

I understand what you are saying. I manually set my camera as well. For the fast shots, I will not have that ability, but for now, I am putting more thought into what I am shooting. So I am learning a great deal right now. (((HUGS))) Amy

This is such a soft, subtle, gentle photo of this flower. I love the softness of our gardens more than the streak, shape beauty we all seem to be drawn too.
Wonderful photo.

I prefer my photography to be soft, sunset. I don’t like the harsh bokeh at all. In fact, I shot some photos today and I think they are not going to be chosen in the final edit. The bokeh and background are just too sharp. I am striving for Harmony with my images. Even with my shots of Autumn. I overedited for a long time, learned what I needed to, and now I like the soft focus, the blend effect. I’ve been saying I am on a huge learning curve, one that I don’t even know the ins and outs with. Thank you for your kind words. Love, Amy

Yes, Val, but before that new reality can come in, what no longer fits must go. And so it is. I no longer have the ability to get those fast shots with my camera, but that is not what I focus on. Now I focus on detail and art …. how best to shoot an image to bring to you the Essence of Life. Have a great day, my friend. Love, Amy

Lovely, Amy! I lost thousands of photos, my computer and camera after a break in a few years ago but the only thing to do is just keep moving ahead. I can’t wait to see what you discover next!

This is exactly what I am doing, right now. Moving ahead. I will let the lessons learned not go to waste and make sure I choose a better way to back up my work. It is devastating to loose pictures as I did, yet here again, I will not wallow in that pain of loss. I am already discovering that I am photographing differently, my style again has changed. So GOOD has already come about! Thank you SO much for your support! Love, Amy

Beautiful photo. Manual focus is my favourite for a lot of reasons, although my photos are not all that great, I do enjoy “playing around” with all the little effects as well as the fun I have in editing! So many amazing things this life we live has to offer! Even in the simple things! Peace and love to you my friend! ~Matthew

I am beginning to really enjoy MF, Matthew. I am not able to get the quick shots, but for now, I am learning to really focus and think where best to have the main focus in an image and to which effect I want as well. I am learning so fast and so much these days, and all I can say is WOW! Love, Amy

SMILE My photography has gained a certain depth since this “loss”, Lisa. I’m shooting differently. I am also shooting only in MF so my focus on what I am shooting is really intense. A slight adjustment back and forth … what exactly do I want to create, want others to really focus on when they see what this image is? It is cool beans!!! LOL GOOD really does come out of ALL situations, my friend. Love, Amy
