      1. Ok, Amy, I posted my falls pictures, can’t compare to your picturesque feminine, but perhaps you’ll find some rugged masculine there! : ) : ) : )

….Also, see my previous post, “Sin Eater”….I think you’ll find it interesting.

I’ve seen photographs of waterfalls from all over the world these past two months

    1. Aw, Keith, you are making me blush. You are not giving yourself enough credit for it IS your words along with my waterfalls that are bringing the viewers. I am extremely humbled by your compliment. I honestly flew by the seat of my pants, going only on what I read in a book, and figuring the rest out as I went. I am in the process of buying an ND filter which will I think enable me to take waterfalls in sun. I think. That means I do not have to wait for a cloudy day! We’ll see. I will take some practice shots first in order to determine if I can shoot the falls (Niagara Falls) in sun. Getting excited ….. Next week, I HOPE my adventure begins. Love, Amy

    1. Kathy, no matter how many times my camera captures Mother’s Beauty, my awe and Wonder does not lesson, only increases. I have much planning to do …. Niagara Falls which is a huge undertaking, and I must start closing up my gardens. When I become overwhelmed, I start by taking one step and just focusing on that one step, then another. Then one day, I shall be photographing the Falls and say, “Wow, I did it!” I hope you get to the Falls too, Kathy. They are truly a sight to behold! Love, Amy

      1. That is great that the awe and wonder continue to grow, I have also found that taking it one step at a time works well when we get overwhelmed. Yes, imagine that the Falls are beautiful and it will happen one day. HUGS ♥xoxo Kathy.

      2. Thank you, Kathy. Thank YOU! It is the huge mist on the Canadian side that’s got me concerned. I will do my utmost best to set up my camera away from the mist. I really hope I succeed. I may not be able to get in as close to them as I was at Glen Falls, but using my 300mm lens with the ability to crop, could be I will again be able to perform magic. Have a wonderful Sunday!!!! 3. The water in the falls does not fret or wonder if it will reach its destination. It just is. Like the flowers of the field and the birds of the air. Only humans fret and worry about such.

Nice I was at Niagara Falls getting wet when you were taking these pictures !!!
Had a point and shoot Water proof camera, with no windshield wipers, water spots all over!! Wishing you the best. You have so much patience to get those shots just “right”.

    1. Michael, I have yet to photograph Niagara Falls. I really am concerned about the mist on the Canadian side. Yes I have a rain jacket for my camera, but what about my filter? That will be covered with mist unless I can find a way to shoot away from the mist. You just being there know the challenge for me that lies ahead. The American side usually has no mist or just a small amount so that I am not too concerned about. It’s that darn Canadian side that I have to figure out how to best shoot. Using slow shutter speeds means working on a tripod, sometimes for hours. And let’s not forget the people that are never ceasing over there. If I do this, I do it. If not, at least I will have tried. Thank you for your kind comment, Michael. I hope you got some good shots even if they have water spots on them!! Love, Amy

      1. Just wrote a ton of words, my least favorite thing to do on the internet. poof disappeared, tablets!!!!
Well I was just recording my wife taking pictures through the trip as she learned to be a photographer on this trip as I am recuperating from an illness. My P+S camera is…shoot and shoot until something is good….or not!!!!
First don’t expect to set up a tripod under the falls unless your a water frog. maybe wait for a strong wind to be blowing from west to east. Grab a towel or two and just before you shoot, wipe or get your assistant to time it!!!
On the boat same thing, my best stuff was of the folks riding the boat getting wet!!
And every evening there should be a rainbow on the mist, just before the fireworks!!
Last but not least was the deadly class 6 rapids, well for me that was nice as I love action (video is best). As you just making a action shot calm is …maybe not so nice…Also watch out for the army of mosquitoes, massive.
The pro’s have the spots already scoped out so look at the postcards and art in the gift stores.
I believe you would enjoy Watkins Glens falls, way more anyway. JMO!
And more questions don’t hesitate to ask, I’ve done some photography professionally in my younger days!!!
        Blessings and smiles.

      2. Hi, Michael, let me introduce myself. I am a Creator. (smile) When I make up my mind to do something, I do it. My concentration is so fierce I make things happen …. I am not able to explain this, things just happen. The most important factor in all of this adventure is weather. The winds must be very calm and hopefully it will be cloudy. I have been to Niagara Falls many times, this time no boat for me. On the days that the winds are calm, the mists do rise gracefully in some spots. There are always areas that you will get wet, which I do plan on avoiding. If I have to walk through those to get to dry I’ll do just that. Watkins Glen Falls are too far for me to travel. I work within a window of mere hours and due to my back not able to drive long distances. For this trip in of itself, I am biking more and hitting the gym to make sure back and legs are strong. I googled Watkins Glen Falls and my eyes just about fell out of my head when I saw those yummy falls. Another spot I plan on going is Letchworth, which will be for next year. I’ve been there too, hiking all the way from the lower falls to the upper which is the way to go, but it is very challenging, time consuming, both of which I don’t have to give. I plan on driving my car to each falls to stop and photograph. Yes, this too will happen. (smile) Thank you for your offer of help. I just may take you up on it! (((HUGS))) Amy

      1. Feathering is a term used when slowing down the shutter speed to make the water more “feathered” looking. I’m about to head out for my PT! It’s slowwwwly getting better. Thanks for asking! :))

      2. OH, thank you, Laura, for explaining!!! Sloooooooowwwww healing is better then nooooooo healing. Take your time, and before you know it, your knee will be better then new. You had a big surgery, plus the fact your body is adjusting to a “new” body part. I’ve been under the weather myself, so I too mend as well. All the best in PT!!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

      3. Thank you, Laura. I did make up a post for my sister who takes care of our Dad, and I really hope I am up to posting it tomorrow for her. Her burdens are heavy right now. I usually don’t get “ill” so this is a surprise. Just yuck. I’m feeling a bit better then I was this morning, so there is improvement. Thank you for caring. (((HUGS))) Amy
