My feature post today is an example of “you don’t know unless you try”. All last week here it was extremely windy, and twice I turned down opportunities to return to the gardens found at “Two Chicks and a Rooster”. The flowers are going down rapidly here, due to cooler temperatures, and I knew I had only a limited window to photograph the flowers there.
Saturday I photographed what you see in my featured post. I took a chance. Again the winds blew, with wind gusts of up to 35 mph. Now for a photographer who does close up of flowers, that is NOT good news. Yet, I was determined. I made arrangements with the owner, really not knowing IF I could even photograph due to the winds.
I arrived at those gardens. The winds blew and I just couldn’t even find a space where the winds were blocked. I was not going to be deterred! I put my music on, took my camera out of my bag, and started to go to work. At first the winds really bothered me and I had to wait, wait, wait …. until there was a break in the wind to quickly depress the shutter.
Now this is the MAGIC of my story. As I got involved in what I was doing, the world disappeared and so too did the wind, or so it seemed. Yes there were a few times that the wind reminded me it was there, but I spoke to it, telling it to calm down. Believe it or not, IT DID!
I am posting on here photo number 2 of my featured post. Now that I have told you all I did, how did I photograph this without blurring from the wind? I just proved my point. When you don’t try, you do not know what you can do. I proved to myself that even on a very windy day, I succeeded in what I set out to do. If I can, so can you!
Now take a look at the photo again. And I leave you with this.
Think upon what I said. Truly anything is possible when you put your Mind to it, and follow that with action. Have a wonderful day! Love, Amy

This is why I decided to write it, Marissa. I honestly was surprised at my success. I went over to those gardens really not knowing if I could even get one photograph, much less I think 300! photographs. Yes, I take repeats of a flower, so probably I photographed at least 100 different flowers in all. Glad you enjoyed!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

This is one reason why I dream of one day shortly living by the ocean. I did at one time as a teenager in Florida. Yes I have a lot of water here around me, but it is not the same as the ocean. At least to me, that is. As I kid I was called “fish” because I was in our swimming pool so much. I just need water just as much as I need air. Mermaid? LOL xx

I too dream of someday being near the ocean and know exactly what you mean and it’s not the same. I also was constantly swimming as a kid. Yes, a mermaid..LOL ♥

Thanks, Amy!!! We can be our very own worst enemy by giving up before we even try. I succeeded beyond my wildest dreams that day, Amy, but I wouldn’t have if I looked at the winds (which I did all that week) and said, “Nope, too windy!” I’m really glad this spoke to you! (((HUGS))) Amy

Even with the wind … Or perhaps accepting and embracing the wind 🙂 An awesome post Amy!

Thank you, Val. We don’t recognize our own power until something bubbles up inside that says, “I’m going to do this come hell or high water!” I honestly could not believe that I forgot all about the raging winds (how could I have?) all because I jumped into the Now Moment and was determined to snap some incredible photos. Wow! This post amazes ME, Val! How do you like that! LOL (((HUGS))) Amy

Inspiring! Thank you Amy for sharing your story. I have to admit that sometimes I just give up taking photos due to weather or so..but you are right, we should not just give up, keep trying and work on it. The result of your photos is remarkable!

Thank you, Indah. I really was close to saying no again, yet I think the scream inside of me saying DO IT was louder then the giving up side. It’s been SO rainy and windy here, and then of course what I do, I am not able to do in bright sunlight. Unless I have something to block the sun (which I do). Life gets tough sometimes, Indah, and yes, I get weary of always seemingly pushing uphill. But if I don’t, and give up, I would be missing out and so would you. (((HUGS))) Amy

Several years ago my medicine wheel group was on this land doing a ceremony. We had hours to go. To the south, you could see this intense storm heading right to us. The medicine wheel leader stood up,pointed his staff at the storm, said his prayers and the storm parted and went around us on both sides, never touching us! We have much more power than we right now accept!

Katelon, what an incredible experience. You are SO right about we not knowing our power. When we truly step into the NOW with all we are, anything is truly possible!!! I can just picture what you told me. Just wow! Love, Amy

Lorrie, IF you knew all I have overcome … and still am. You would not believe it. I don’t at times when I look back and say NO!? NO? OH my YES! But, it takes tenacity and grits and sometimes even I tire, and say no. Not today. Bless you for being a part of my Life. You have no idea how much that means to me. (((HUGS))) Amy

Hi Amy! I don’t know all you’ve gone through…but I sense that there was much. You could not have the compassionate and beautiful soul that you have if you had not been tried in this lifetime (perhaps others as well?)
I am fairly certain that you FEEL other people’s energy as well…and I think it is that energy that sometimes takes the most out of us. So you must be certain to take care of yourself when you feel this way! I send you restorative energy through much love!! ❤

Lorrie, you hit it on the nose. Yes, I do feel energy. I feel others’ energy as well. I’ve learned how to pull back, yet there are days that there is SO much energy, that it consumes me. That is when I get on my bike and ride like the wind or get my hands in soil, or get behind my camera. I also use cleansing techniques to shake the energy off of me when it becomes “sticky”. Oh, yup, fun!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

I thought so! I need better cleansing techniques. ..sometimes I can’t shake it! Much ❤

Sea salt is good, Lorrie. Wash your hands then rub sea salt on them, then rinse them. Or after a shower, lightly rub sea salt on entire body (don’t forget crown chakra and third eye) and then rinse immediately. One other one I do. Drink Braggs Apple Cidar Vinegar with one whole squeezed lemon in a large glass of water to drink daily. Hope this helps, Lorrie. These are just two suggestions right off the top of my head.
