The first SIX photos are from the day the sun was playing tag with the clouds when I was at Glen Falls, so there are some images where the highlights I know are overexposed. I have done my best to tone everything down, to get everything looking as I saw it. My knowledge of working with Adobe PS has a long ways to go yet. I am still very much in the learning process with this editing program.
The very last photo (7th one) is one of those that I took of Glen Falls on the 29th of July. This photograph is totally different in nature due to the abundance of rain we have had lately. Due to the mist, heavy cloud cover, and water against water for contrast, I really worked with PS to bring out this image as best as I could. I saw it happen in my viewfinder the exact moment my finger hit the shutter, which elicited a huge WOW from me! I am still very much on a learning curve with these waterfalls, and I ask myself in a similar situtation in future days, do I shoot deliberately to overexpose the image? Next time, and yes there will be a next time, I shall experiment with exposure to see if I can answer my own question.
Anyways …. It just goes to show you, how many “faces” a Woman has, and how powerful that Woman is. When you really SEE how different Glen Falls looks from one day compared to another, when I actually begin the images in that series of waterfalls that I took on the 29th, I think you will be amazed. I was!
Sit back and enjoy! Thank you so much for viewing my work! (((HUGS))) Amy

Those look wonderful Amy! What version of Photo Shop are you using? I took an Adobe class a few years back when I was in college. Of course now with the newer programs what I learned on is outdated, lol.

Truthfully I chose an older version of PS (Elements) because of the reviews it got. I use version SIX and I have TONS more to learn. I don’t have Lighthouse or CC or whatever it is called. I am very happy with Adobe PS ELEMENTS version 6. Hubs wants me to try another version, but I am not too keen to. I only have ONE brain, ya know what I mean? Hehehehehehe (((HUGS)) my friend!! I know! And we are bombarded with this stuff every single day! Leads to eating disorders, hits to our self-esteem and self-worth, and depression. They don’t make it clear that to achieve that look you have to have photo shop. It’s just implied that it’s “natural” to look like that. 🙄

This is why it is so important to understand when you see a model, she is not even real. How nuts to want to be a size 0. I shake my head in wonder, for in growing up, I never even heard of a size 0 … it did not exist. A size 2? Really? The sickness in this world generated by the media is scary. Some of what I see on some of the blogs scares me, for it is open to the public and YOUNG kids can view extremely adult content which is not healthy in the least. It just boggles the mind. The young are so impressionable, for they have yet to form a solid idea of who they are. Michelle, even with me, due to the circumstances of my beginnings, it took years and years to find out who I am. And some days I still struggle with that identity. You just keep your head on straight and know that just as YOU are, you are perfect. OK? (((HUGS))) Amy

It is scary! I even have these moments where they literally impact my choices. And then in those moments I don’t feel perfect at all. Like I’m constantly feeling as if I’m having to compare myself to something it can’t physically achieve. Thank you so much for your heartfelt words Amy, they truly mean so much! 💖

Thank you, Kathy!!! I at times just did sit back and merged with these Waters. It was so easy to slip into an altered state, just so mellow, flowing as One with the falls. I have SO many posts I want to do, it just isn’t possible to do them all. Perhaps I am getting the shelves stocked when the winter winds come howling in. Perhaps. (smile) Love, Amy

You are the second person who liked number 4 and 6. What do you mean by “intended properly”? I do not understand what you say. I had a lot of trouble with highlights and dark photos with some of these images due to the sun and due to mist and low hanging clouds. So, not those are not perfectly as I saw them. Is that what you mean? These waterfalls can be tricky. I again thank you for your compliment. (((HUGS))) Amy

In particular, I felt, about the 6 th and 4th, were “intended properly”.
Shooting these, do not was difficult more?
There are steps of rock more than the other photos, the water bouncing each time, it has become a photograph that is very dynamic. (I think maybe, the other photos, line of water is long.)
It is supported at the correct exposure and part of overexposed slightly. I think this is great.
I don’t know whether this was intended or not really. But the photograph of the two has a very good representation. 🙂

Wow, thank you, Chun. I am still very much learning how to capture these waterfalls correctly. Some images yes, I got it. Others no. It is particularily difficult when it is very cloudy and the waters are dark. If I overexpose too much the leaves white out. Too much of anything does not make it look natural. I’m learning. Hope to improve as I go along. Thank you SO much for your input. It meant a lot to me. Love, Amy

My next camera will be the 6D. But, the one I have now, taken care of properly, will last me for a long time. The 70D is a great camera too! Use that kit lens, get used to them, and when you do upgrade, you will be SO grateful and SO good! I have honestly learned, that it is the person using the camera, with kit lenses or with more expensive lenses, that makes all the difference. I really have learned A LOT through the years I have been photographing and still learning. Most of my time photographing I have used kit lenses, and it is only recently I have invested in the more expensive ones. Yes, I see a difference, BUT, I actually got to a point I could barely see the difference between kit lens and expensive lens. I wish you all the best, really. Just keep shooting. Challenge yourself. Experiment. You see something that pulls your eye, stop and wonder about it. What angle will that look best? What about background? Can you tell I get excited about photography??? You go!!! And keep going!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

Oh, Sweetie, do NOT let Life stop you from your Passion. There have been days my Life has been SO difficult and picking up my camera was really the last thing I wanted to do. But I did. You go, and do what YOUR Heart is calling you to do. Never mind what the world says or what anyone else for that matter says.
