OH! I miss all of you SO much!!! BUT! I managed to get some pretty incredible progress done this week in my Gardens. Number 7 Garden has just been completed today, out of a total of 16. This involves, cleaning Winter debris, collecting it in a wheelbarrow and dumping it back near our compost, cutting back dead and brittle remains of plants, digging out weeds (yes roots and all!), applying horse manure, and then mulch. My Butterfly Bush has been cut back, a hard prune. That is the only thing I feel comfortable with the pruning process, because it is just still so cool here.
My knees are sore as my back, but I do not complain. I have 2 Gardens ahead of me, that most likely I will be in for several days, they being just that big. I am not removing the mulch protection from my Roses yet, nor am I pruning them back, even when they are showing signs of new growth. And they are!
I have a Miracle to tell you. My husband, who has never helped me before in my Gardens, decided this year, that he is going to help me. So we have been working side by side together. He even remarked how easy I make everything seem, and how smoothly everything is going. For this I am greatly humbled and thankful to Lady Love Herself, Mother Nature as well, and all my WP friends who have either “prayed” for me, or sent good thoughts my way, or you who have sent energy. I am beyond grateful. At this rate, if the weather permits, I may be finished completely in 2 more weeks.
Oh, I almost forgot. I have several Rose Bushes that I must transplant, yet it is still too early to do this. I am scratching my head on where to put them (I really need to make another Rose Garden) and then thinking of what to plant in their place, once they are transplanted … something that prefers morning sun and afternoon shade. Yes, due to our trees once again growing, what once was appropriate for Roses no longer holds true. There is just too much shade.
I have taken many pictures as I have been going along, and in fact, am waiting for twilight to take photos of the gardens we have finished, so I can show you. I will try to get those posted tomorrow for you. I also have a beautiful surprise for you that is coming on Monday, and yes, you will just have to wait. Tee Hee.
So, with that all being said, I want to close this by saying “thank you” for your patience for it is pretty evident by now that I am not here in bloggersville as much as I usually am. The two photos are: top a WEED of all things, believe it or not, and the second, I forgot its name. If any of you recognize this plant could you please leave Her name in the comment section? She is supposed to flower in the Fall, but She has decided in my Garden to bloom in Spring. Go figure.

I just spent some time in my own garden, cutting back sage (ahhh what a wonderful smell!) and pulling the old, dead sticks out from last years hibiscus. The Mums are starting to grow and….sigh…so is the grass. thats next on my list 🙂

Morgirl, just to be out, tired as I am, in the Sunlight, and the smell the GREEN and see GREEN and discover life …. I think I am in Heaven. It was too long of a winter. And now …. I feel like a kid. Neha, you don’t KNOW how I miss being here and how much I miss talking to all of you!!! The gardens are going a lot faster then I had hoped. The weather is on our side and everything is going so smoothly. I look forward to the day I don’t have all this hard work to do so I can be HERE and take pics. I LOVE this WEED that I found today. Kathy, I am working on the post for Monday today (Sunday) and maybe a few more as well. And of course continuing with the gardening AND today I am going to see what is blooming (weed-wise) on our wild part of our property. The sun is shining!! Perhaps in 2 weeks, I will be able to attend to my Roses, pruning them and taking their protective mulch away from the root ball. Oh Glorly!!! xx Amy

Your post here reminded me of when I would help my mother with her gardening. “Help” as in I would just end up sitting next to her talking about my life or just whatever was on my mind at the time while she did all the work. I haven’t see her since January, but I’ll be returning home next month. Perhaps I will actually “help” her this time around.

Michelle, just having the company while gardening is wonderful. I am sure your Mother really enjoyed you talking about your lfe. And I would bet she would be so happy if you actually joined her in the gardening process as well. There is no better feeling that getting that entire dandelion out. You don’t know how many times I’ve grinned while holding a dandelion I just pulled out, looking at it and saying GOTCHA! If you don’t know about dandelions, if you don’t get the entire root out, they will grow back. Grrrrrr…….The joys of gardening. Hehehehehe

They look empty and blah to be truth because all the growth is so little that it is not showing yet. Some yes. But most no. In one month from now, I will have a real paradise … these flowers and plants once they begin to grow along with the rain, grow fast. OH! I cannot wait!! Love, Amy

My gardens take precidence. The weather is really working along right with us, because once it begins to rain, I won’t be able to garden. I fly through time. [GRIN] No idea. Like now. I went back to see if my Pussy Willows are greening, and I got pulled into pulling off dead branches/limbs and then some. I am full of mud. Now to go back WITH my camera to crawl through the mud just to get images of my Pussy Willow. Tee Hee. Seriously, I have learned a long time ago, Mind over Matter really works, and IF you desire to do something bad enough, you can and you will do it. I also take care of many animals. So that being said …. I grab my camera to document Pussy Willows. Today as well as gardening, we will be pulling out huge dead branches and limbs. Our wild part of our property has so much dead stuff that really needs to be cleaned out. Another job I didn’t foresee coming. I LOVE LIFE, Amy. And magic just happens to help me!! (((HUGS))) Amy

Wow, 16 gardens, I’m impressed. You are devoted! I thought I was crazy when I maxed out at 9. Age has had its way with me and I’ve cut back that number to 5 plus the veggie garden, which is supposed to be my son’s domain (SO hard not putting my nose there!) and I still have too many to properly care for. Everything (as you know) requires dividing, weeding, etc. Nothing is static in a garden. So I’ve let my designs go a little wild and that suits me just fine – very Darwinian. 🙂

Eliza, I am still “anal” in my gardens. Hehehehehe Neat and tidy. Some years I have let go, Darwinian style as you coin it, due to health. This year I feel SO strong and man I am going!!! I am looking at the numbers 5 and 7 for my next birthday this month, so I am no spring chickie myself. IF I look at the whole picture I would get so overwhelmed. I got sidetracked yesterday when I went back into our wild portion of our property to snap pics of the Pussy Willow. I saw how it needed clearing, with so many dead limbs and branches about. So, for a few hours, I cut and picked up dead limbs and branches, then dragging all of it out and made a HUGE pile. (see post today) I made a joke of it! LOL I’m going to try to work on garden number 8 today, I think is what I am on, and go from there. Have a great day!!!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

LOL I refuse to give in to the aches and the pains. I just spoke to my hubs last night, I don’t know if I will survive another winter. I do not do well in cold. And without color and without sun. When Spring arrives I feel renewed and completely invigorated. I live in chronic pain, and yes, even that goes way down. Eliza, we take care of so many animals here, and my Roses (GOD how could I leave them?) and we haven’t even discused money to move with ….. All I know how to do is to keep putting the thought out “there” that I require a warm climate and WARM ALIVE people to continue my LIFE. For now, I am with the Earth, out in the warm and the Sun, and there is no other place on earth I want to be. Anything is possible with determination and with a lot of Mind over Matter. I could write a book!!! (((HUGS))) Amy

I know a couple here in town that spend their winter in a tiny bungalow in HI. They bring 2 dogs with them. Maybe you could migrate like the birds.

Central America is full of American ex-pat communities because it is so inexpensive, however, the pets would be a problem with quarantines. 😦 And knowing your soft heart, you’d be moved to adopt all the street dogs in your neighborhood – lol!
